Just announced by Amy Scarton WSF, both Edmonds - Kingston and Mukilteo - Clinton, will have one boat service both Sat and Sun throughout the month of July INCLUDING the upcoming 4th of July holiday weekend due to Covid 19 and the lack of available deck crews. This is big! And the one boat service on weekends on those routes is continuing indefinitely... Ferry Alert: Muk/Clin and Edm/King Routes on One-Boat Weekend Service Until Further NoticeBecause of a continued shortage of available crew during the COVID-19 pandemic, service on the Mukilteo/Clinton and Edmonds/Kingston routes will remain on one-boat weekend service until further notice. Travelers looking to travel on either route should plan ahead by checking Mukilteo / Clinton Schedule and Edmonds / Kingston Schedule and be prepared for long waits if driving onto a state ferry on the weekends. The #1 boat will be the only boat in service. Customers should consider traveling during non-peak times in the early mornings and later in the evening, and limiting non-essential travel.

Was construction started to any degree on this vessel and if so what the heck does Flensburger do with it? Talk about a 'barebones' construction. She was launched on 12/14/2018: From October 2019:

A link to a March 1966 David Davies photograph of Jervis Queen and one other ship, at Deas Basin. click on the photo to get full size Jervis QueenI can't tell if the vessel beside her is the George S. Pearson or the Cy Peck. Going by the size of the car deck windows, the other vessel is the George S. Pearson.

And the winter schedule is extended even further...
ALL ROUTES: Winter Sailing Schedule Extended Through June 20
Washington State Ferries is extending the winter sailing schedule through June 20 because of a continued decline in ridership due to COVID-19. It was previously scheduled to end on April 25. Therefore, customers should continue following the winter schedule through at least June 20. Routes that are on a modified/reduced service schedule will remain on those schedules until further notice.
Reservation routes
All vehicle reservations for the Port Townsend/Coupeville and Anacortes/San Juan Islands/Sidney, B.C. routes that were booked on dates between April 26 and June 20 will automatically be cancelled. Customers still looking to travel during those dates will need to rebook new reservations based on the extended winter sailing schedule. Because WSF will need to reprogram its reservations system, it will take a few days for those extended winter season reservations to be available. WSF will notify all customers as soon as they are able to rebook their travel.
International service to and from Sidney, B.C. is cancelled until at least June 21, and customers will not be able to rebook those trips.
Even without reservations, all passengers seeking to travel should be able to do so due to declines in ridership, which increases the amount of available standby space.

Technical question. does the Seabus apply? Yes. I've updated the rules to include passenger-only ferries.

For the May/June flagship, the theme will be a ferry (or ferries) and a big ship (like a cargo ship, cruise ship, ocean liner or any other large vessel) in the same picture. The ferry should not obscure the big ship (and vice versa) and both should be easily seen. Passenger only ferries (like the Seabus and Victoria Clipper vessels) are allowed. The normal rules apply. The maximum number of entries per person is 3. The nomination process will end at 7:00 on 04/28.

Anxiously awaiting our next flagship. With spring break and work possibly slowing down for awhile, time to get out and shooting some shipping! A new thread for this months theme will be set up later today.

There's a change to the Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth Schedule starting April 3rd...
Starting on April 3rd, all customers on the 9:30 p.m. sailing from Southworth to Fauntleroy will switch to a different vessel when they arrive in Vashon Island Friday evenings with the start of the spring schedule.
• Walk-on passengers will exit the vessel they arrived on and briefly wait at the Vashon terminal before boarding their new vessel.
• Passengers driving aboard will be directed off the boat by terminal staff and re-positioned before boarding the new boat.
• Once aboard, crews will then load all Fauntleroy-bound Vashon customers before departing for Fauntleroy.
• Late night sailings have shifted 5 to 10 minutes later to allow time to switch boats and still stay on time.
This adjustment allows WSF to take the first boat out of service sooner, giving crews more time to perform needed maintenance and avoid service disruptions. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience while we work to maintain our fleet.

On the subject of WSF vessel maintenance... Did TPTB decide to remove the maintenance schedule from WSF's site again? A friend had asked and I couldn't find it. There is a maintenance schedule located in the "Business with WSF" section on the site (it's under upcoming projects), but it's only for shipyard work. They haven't had the more detailed one in several years.
