Those gates must be a precursor to cutting the crew back. Makes sense in the Winter.

While this ramp issue isn't good, and should have been caught earlier, why is the solution another study? I want to know how many studies of WSF the Legislature has ordered in the past ten years and how much cost there has been to taxpayers. And didn't they already do a study of the 64 car boats and what went wrong?

Haven't the KdTs been running better since the ballast was put on them? Better fuel economy/better speed. Seems to solve your constant "change the engines!" arguement. Granted I have no proof other than what has been mentioned on this forum. And WSF is not building run specific boats anymore. Doesn't make any economic sense. Time will tell if WSF built the Olympics too small but they have a Jumbo MkII design that has been proven reliable if they need bigger boats. I don't think you will see any other new boats until the Supers need to be retired however.

I think the funnels are so high so they can convert to LNG in the future. The tank would go between the stacks.

Queen of Tsawwassen is 103m. Norad is 117m. What other Canadian Boat would be available? The Chilliwack isn't surplus yet.

5.3 millions dollars wasted. And this was before the engineering problems on the 520 bridge. WSDOT needs some better engineers.

One other thing to consider was that the forecast was much worse than the actual storm. The US Forecasting model had the storm coming in over southern Vancouver Island which would have produced hurricane force winds. Instead, the storm went north so the impact of the winds was much less. The canceled sailings might have been judged off of the forecast.

Faunt/Va/SW- The Faunt/Va/SW route is on a 2-boat schedule 9/07 The Fauntleroy/Vashon/Southworth route is on a two boat schedule due to a lack of qualified crew. Please see Two-Boat Schedule for current sailing times.

Her proportions are so off from what we are used to seeing on a WSF ferry. That top photo almost looks photoshopped.

Tolls on 520 have nothing to do with the problems being seen on the new pontoons. There was contingency money built into the contract to cover costs like those, although that money is now getting thinned. Also, the toll schedule in regard to 520 tolls was preset before tolling even began. The yearly increases would be happening no matter how the overall project is going. The 405 tolls will be just for single occupant vehicles using the HOV lanes. Hence the word "HOT" which means High Occupancy Toll lane. DOT has discussed raising the HOV lanes in the Seattle Metro Area to a 3+ in order to gain more revenue from these HOT lanes.

Some of those tolling revenues mentioned in the Revenue Package are pretty out there. It mentions $500 million in tolling fees from 405 HOT lanes.

The lands set aside were already under BLM management, so nothing will really change. It will just make them permanently protected, which is a good thing for future generations and will help tourism.

But are those sailings really full on a Saturday night? Besides traffic coming home from the Sounders match I doubt it.

Biggest issues I see are the Jones Act and where the boats will be built. There are some shared design savings if BCF and WSF use the same design, but I don't see a BCF boat being built at Vigor, and a WSF can't legally be built in Canada.

I wonder if the shipyard/designer is picking up the cost on this? And I wonder if this will help fix the speed problem by putting them lower in the water?

Rode the Salish today on the Bremerton route and she is really loud at the stern, so loud I couldn't hear my iPod on my earbuds. Is this from the prop being to far out of the water and the cavitation?
