Re: Moseley, McKenna said in one of the debates flat out that he would fire Moseley. I am thinking that Inslee has the same idea, someone has to be a scapegoat for what has happened in the system.

Vibration problems? I know that they had issues on the Chetzemoka.

Are you really suggesting that WSF use one of BC Ferries C-Class ferries? That is ridiculous. I doubt they would fit into WSF docks due to their height and draft, not to mention the Jones Act. And BC Ferries would never allow one of their large boats to be leased out to an American Company. Any company really. And I really doubt the Hyak will be on "standby" for a week. It was probably built into the schedule in case the shipyard work went long. You will see her in service as soon as she is ready.

How long was the Elwha out when she burned up her drive motor? About a year? Should be some interesting deployments. The first Olympic won't be online until early 2014.

CBC reporting that people are evacuating the low lying areas of Haida Gwaii, Prince Rupert, Port Hardy, Tofino, etc. on the coast. Precautionary at this point.

I love how the Legislators are blaming the ferry system. They are as much to blame as WSF. They are the ones that pushed this design that no one but a few people on the Island wanted.

Rode on the Spokane on the 9:40pm out of Kingston tonight. According to the schedule, the 9:40pm should have been the #1 boat, the Puyallup. Is this normal?

There is no way they will install overhead walkways at the current dock with a brand new terminal on the way. Would be a waste of money. If they keep to the timeline.

One other thing to consider is that when the new Mukilteo dock is built it will have overhead loading, which will speed up the unloading/loading process on a heavy passenger commuter route. This will allow them to keep the 30 minute turnaround with the bigger boats.

In the press release for the start of constuction of the new 144 boat, it was mentioned that they may build up to 4 of the new class pending funding, which would replace all three Evergreen Class vessels. "WSF has a contract with US Fab for design and construction of up to four 144-car ferries contingent on available funding. The Legislature funded a second 144-car ferry this session."

DOT announced TIGER funds for the JBLM I-5 smart project and the light rail extension from Sea-Tac to 200th. The Hyak project was part of these bids so I believe it wasn't selected.
