TSA to Southern Gulf Islands, LOL, 5 SAILING WAIT! That just looks funny to me seeing that on there as all vehicle reservations from TSA to the Gulf Islands are sold out today just like yesterday!
Although I dont know how accurate this is cause RBI online shows today there are still sailing available!

Nice to see that the hourly sailings until 2200h are continuing on route one through out the labour day weekend.
Over the past several years, the schedule on the Saturday just before Labour Day and Labour day itself was hourly from 700h to 1900h with a final sailing at 2100h. Some years, there were MD sailings, but it was terribly confusing and upsetting for travellers. Good to know BC Ferries does bow down to heavy complaining.

Murphy's Law on route 3. No Queen of Esquimalt today and the last sailing leaving Langdale at 2125h is full.

oh no. I was wondering why there was no Queen of Esquimalt arriving at HSB at 5pm today. I thought she must of broke down. Why wasent she running??? No service notice or anything about it.

There was nothing according to actual departure times which is a bit strange, can any engineers be able to fill in the blank for why the Esquimalt was MIA?

The schedule of the BC ferries website says "Mo,Thu,Fr & Su only (except Sept 3)"
I guess with Monday being a holiday and not as busy as the Canada Day or BC day long weekends, the ferry corp. thought it would be quiet. They were wrong. Something to improve on next year.

ah ok, I thought being a long weekend it ALWAYS happens something breaks down but I guess this long weekend is different. No problems yet. It actually dident look too busy as far as traffic for Langdale. I was in Horseshoe Bay for about an hour and half yesterday and left on the 6:40pm and the Surrey was right next to Coquitlam and and it looked like there was no leave behinds. So how come route 2 dident scrap the 8:50pm and 10:50pm sailings last night being a Sunday. They sure dident need the 10:50pm out of HSB as it was only 10% last night.

Speaking of break downs, BC Ferries seems to be doing pretty good this summer.

The 2250h sailing is hardly used throughout the summer. It has to return to its homeport at Departure Bay. The 2050h sailing on Sunday evenings leaving Departure Bay does fill up often. As for tonight, I have a feeling the Coquitlam will be doing an extra round trip at 2050 and 2250 since traffic is busy at Dep. Bay.

It did do a roundtrip as those sailing operate on Sundays and Holiday Mondays. I got off the Coquitlam at 8:15pm last night at Departure Bay and there was quite a load waiting to board. Not alot of foot passengers though. They will be destoring her tonight as I heard one of the cew members mention that. As the fall schedules go into effect to the Esquimalt and Coquitlam will have a bit of down time.

Does destoring mean the Coquitlam is going in for its annual refit, starting tomorrow? The ferries website and printed schedule says the 2050h and 2250h sailings are for Sundays only. An MD sailing happened on BC day and the same should happen tonight.

no it just means they are destoring her as she wont be running for a while. She is suppose to replace the Oak Bay soon cause the Oak Bay will be going in for refit I think.

An MD sailing happened on BC day and the same should happen tonight. Just curious what an "MD" sailing is ?? Medical Also, Mr. HighwayMan, please feel free to introduce yourself to this forum.....there is a thread for this, which is on the "rules, reasons & recommendations" page. Our "personal message" feature is located on the bottom-right corner of the home page view. Or, perhaps you chose to remain a mysterious highwayman, like the highwaymen of old ?

Well Hwy 19 is a bit of a mysterious highway, if I do say so myself.
BTW, MD stands for Manager Discretion, which means it sails at heavy traffic periods.
Karl: The Oak Bay just had her anuual refit in May. I don't think it's quite that time of year yet.

oops, your right. It's not the Oak Bay. The Coquitlam will be replacing the Cowichan on route 2 before she goes to fill in on route 30.

I arrived at Langdale at 11:30am and the 12:50 Surrey sailing was already full. The Esquimalt did her first sailing at 1:30pm and I was one of the first on.

Well it's Tuesday morning and there is a 2 sailing wait out of Horseshoe Bay. Why is it everyone decides to go home on a Tuesday after the long weekend? I have no idea where the Coquitlam is as she is not at Departure Bay as I cant see her there and I cant see any extra sailings listed today on the CC page.
But I think the Coquitlam has gone to Deas or something because the Esquimalt is doing a trip from Langdale at 11am then she is sailing to Nanaimo at 12:20pm 10 mins before the Cowichan is suppose to leave at 12:30. I dont know if the Esquimalt will be going back to Langdale as she might go back to HSB seeing there is a 2 sailing wait out of Nanaimo.

Guess they ended the summer schedule too early. Route One is still at full service until next week.

Anyone know what is going on with the Queen of Surrey. Esquimalt is doing triangle between HSB-DB & langdale. Surrey has been delayed all day with "mechanical difficulties"

Curious how do you know the Esquimalt is doing triangle route cause I do not see her posted for any actual departures? Surrey has been making up time all day though. No service notice, I'd ask one of the engineers.

Well I dont know why you cant see it but it's there. She left HSB at 12:20pm for Nanaimo and left Departure Bay at 3:30pm to go back to HSB

I have now introduced myself on the r,r, & r page. Here we go again, summer schedule is over with and the delays and problems strike back. Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay - Update - Queen of Cowichan Sailing Cancellations. www.bcferries.com/schedules/notices/notice09070602.htmlThe Cowichan is having electrical problems and is taken out of service and replaced with the Esquimalt. Murphy's Law again with the Coquitlam out of service, the Oak Bay behind schedule, and so is the Surrey. I know travel demands are less now after Labour Day and vessels must go in for their annual refit but, the these off peak scheduled times are just too tight and on time performance quickly suffers. It is still busy out there and I think the two vessels on route 2 and the Surrey on route 3 should stay on the summer scheduled times until the Tuesday just after Thanksgiving and begin on the Victoria Day weekend.
