Well it's 9am and there is a 2 sailing wait from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and a 3 sail wait from Tsawwassen to the Gulf Islands. That is just crazy! Also a 1 sailing wait to Langdale. Has the Gulf Islands ever hit a 3 sail wait before?? So how do they figure out sailing waits to the gulf islands cause you have to have reservations so would a 3 sail wait be for stanby passengers??

No I think it is a 3 sail wait as in all the sailings are booked.

Looks like BC Ferries cant make it through a long weekend without something happening. The Queen of Saanich 8am from SB and 10am from TSA has been cancelled due to mechanical problems and also now the 12pm from SB and 2pm from TSA have been cancelled. So no Queen of Saanich sailings hopefully till 4pm they can get her running by as it's gonna be a busy one! Advice for today, Avoid route 1!
Queen of Saanich - mechanical problems Posted July 02, 2006 Due to mechanical problems the 08:00 and 12:00 NOON departure from Swartz Bay (Victoria) to Tsawwassen (Vancouver) and the 10:00 and 14:00 departure from Tsawwassen (Vancouver) to Swartz Bay (Victoria) have been cancelled. Please check our Current Conditions page or contact our Customer Service Centre for current updates.

Ouch. They should have the Esquimalt filling in, and the Coquitlam on Manager Discretion on routes 2/3, and have the Cowichan and Oak Bay on winter schedule.

And the Esquimalt is doing 3 roundtrips on Langdale too today so they dont have a spare ship at the moment. Hopefully the Saanich will be running by 4pm today!

Yeah, plus the Esquimalt is on the Major route that is furthest away from Route 1, so it would be like 2pm when she's ready to go. So that would be a waist of time and money. Don't forget, that would also hold Route 2 and 3 up a bit too of course. It's not even backed up on Route 1. 1 sailing wait from only Tsawwassen, big deal, so everyone has to wait another hour. Tell me when it's a 3 sailing wait.

This is not good, the 4pm from SB and the 6pm from TSA have also been cancelled. Hopefully she will be able to back for the 8pm and 10pm sailings tonight. I think I am gonna take a Gulf Islands cruise on the Cumbie today. See what's going on with the Saanich. I had thought of taking the Bowen from Mayne Island to Tsawwassen then coming back on the 7 or 8pm sailings but with the Saanich out it will be crazy today on route 1!

11:30pm Thursday night and there are 3 lines outside Tsawwassen and people showing up still! Why the hell would you still be showing up now after there are no more sailings?? The last sailing to Duke Point was full with waits! Crazy!

I'm travelling Route 30 today, either 3:15 or 5:45, we shall see. That's right, I'm off to Comox, and I'll be packing my new digital camera I got on Wednesday! Yay, free from my mother's Bulky, heavy and ugly camera!

That is not crazy, that just says if you are heading to the gulf islands, just reserve and I think reserves should be required for the Gulf Islands.

They are required for the gulf islands. I was just saying that's all. It's for vehicle reservations only being all booked up for like 5 sailings. Foot Passengers can still get on.
As of 12:40pm there is a 4 sailing wait to the Gulf Islands, and 2 sailing waits from Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay and Duke Point. Also from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen. Duke Point and route 2 and 3 out of HSB and Departure Bay all have 1 sailing waits too!

remember with the gulf islands that not every sailing hits every island so that does not mean there is a 4 sailing wait to get to pender. also reservations are reccomended for this route 9/9a if you show up without one on a long weekend you will probably be laughed at

I was on Route 30; used our Assured Loading passes, and got a front row seat on the New West. The ferry was in fact full, we traveled on the 5th (my birthday).

This morning on my way out to White Rock to work, I was very suprised to drive by the escalating lineups outside the Horseshoe Bay terminal ticket booths, at 5am. You would have thought it was a Friday afternoon, except the gates were clsoed, and it was dark outside.

If anything route 30 has been crazy busy this summer. They need a 3rd ship during peak periods when there are two sailing waits so people dont have to wait all afternoon for a ferry.

That is the big thing they need but I believe they are saying they do not have "funding" for it when they have their piggy banks of profits they could have used to get 3 "Super" Cs. I quote Super cause they are around the same size of the current Cs except a bit better but not that much bigger which is what needed to happen and also have gallery decks that can be adjusted so that smaller overheights could fit in raised position.

So because we have truckers that travel through the night from the interior and beyond and then arrive at a ferry terminal and sleep there until the first morning sailing this is enough for a third vessel on route 30? I think if you look at all the fine numbers you would realize that a third vessel is not necassary
