There have been waits on route 2 ever since the summer schedule ended which is why I think route 2 should be on the summer schedule until after Thanksgiving weekend as Highwayman mentioned. They keep having to add unscheduled sailings anyways so might as well just stick with three ships on route 3 till like October.

You are correct Karl. Departure Bay had a two sailing wait at 1630h yesterday, meaning vehicles were lining up for the last sailing at 2100h. Did the Queen of Esquimalt sail? My friends decided to get the 2015h sailing at Duke Point. We sent a complaint via email to BC Ferries to regularly schedule a 3rd ship on Fridays and Sundays on route 2 until after Thanksgiving. By the way Karl, I think you mean route 2 to have three ships not route 3 (Horseshoe Bay-Langdale).

oh yeah, my mistake, lol! The Esquimalt did sail at 8:45pm I think Sunday night from DB. I think she sailed too earlier than that. I would love to know if the Esquimalt is running this Sunday as I never know in enough time to make it up to Departure Bay as I would like to get on the Esquimalt on route 2 as I have never been on the Esquimalt on that route. They should just schedule at 3rd ship on Fridays and Sundays. September is still fairly busy especially on Fridays and Sundays.

It is refit season already which is why the Coq is off Route 2. But I think BC Ferries is just trying to save money by only having two boats on Route 2. Keeping the Esquimalt on MDS probably saves money instead of just scheduling her for two round trips.

There is a 1 sailing wait on route 1 this afternoon. They go from 3 extra roundtrips down to 1. Why dont they gradually go from like 3 down to 2 then to 1 roundtrip instead of just cutting it off at 1 roundtrip. No wonder they have waits.

People got left behind on the 1700 from Swartz Bay last night. The 1900 was PACKED!!
Cars arriving at 1730 were told they'd be on the last sailing at 2100!
Life on the Coast!

Once again, route 2 is busy. The Esquimalt is doing at least one round trip. It left Departure Bay at 1400h and will be leaving Horseshoe Bay at 1620h. As for route 1, the Saanich should be doing two round trips Mon. to Thurs. and Sat. until Thanksgiving. It is still busy.

The Esquimalt did another trip from Departure Bay at 6:45pm as HSB vehicle space was sold out about 6:30pm for the next two sailings. Just crazy. BC Ferries should at least be on the summer schedule till the end of September.

I am suprised they only run the Vancouver on Fridays and Sundays. They can't do much about Route 2 because the Coq is already out for refit, then the Cow, then the Route 30 boats, so it never ends til the Alberni comes back in June.

Route 1 and 30? were not busy last night (by 8:00). The Queen of Vancouver arrived at 7:30 and was tied up. The 9:00 was probably pretty full, but there wasn't enough traffic for an 8:00 (there were people there who thought there would be one). I took the 8:15 from Tsawwassen which was probably 1/3 or 1/2 full. A nice calm night sailing.. not too too cold out yet.

Update at 8:32 p.m. Sold out Tsawwassen-Swartz Bay Langdale-Horseshoe Bay Just barely sold out Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen Obviously at Tsawwassen and Departure Bay, people were directed to route 30. As for Langdale and Swartz Bay people they must have stayed behind. Queen of Saanich has to do an extra trip on Sundays. All this week, the Saanich has been doing a 1200h trip out of Swartz Bay and a return trip at 1400h from Tsawwassen.

You can add two more round trips for the Saanich today. Management doesn't get it, it is still busy. The current schedule is every two hours on the odd hour. Dumb

Well not exactly Karl. Overall traffic is certainly down. The Vancouver only sails on weekends and the Saanich is on MD(manager's discretion) about half the time. If it's not scheduled, they won't sail unless it's profitable.

no kidding eh! Summer schedule should go to at least the end of Sept. That is for sure!! The Esquimalt did one round trip on route 2 Friday and Sunday. Route 3 last night was very busy. The Surrey had to do an extra round trip leaving Langdale at 2210h and it was over 60% full. And there was obviously a return trip leaving Horseshoe Bay at 2300h. It is surprising the Esquimalt did not do a triangle run. With the backlog at Langdale in the afternoon, the Esquimalt should have done one round trip on route 3 too. Route one last night (Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay) was almost full for the final sailing at 2100h!!

We arrived at Swartz Bay this past Saturday off the SoVI at about 1040 at the terminal looked pretty full.
We returned for the 1500 sailing and the sign on Hwy 17 said a "possible sailing wait" at about 1415!
The SoVI sailed with the ramps down on the starboard side of the main cardeck. No traffic on them (perhaps on the last sailing?), but the cars were, literally, shoe-horned in behind the commercial traffic on Deck 2.
The Saanich was enjoying her afternoon off, sunning herself in berth 3!

What can I say, BCF sure knows how to run like an airline, is that because of the new "David Hahn Factor" perhaps?

They want you to shell out for a reservation year round. By running fewer ferries the demand for those that remain is greater. If you miss one you will wait two or more hours. The next trip you just might cough up the extra $15.00 or $17.50 to be assured of getting on the sailing that you want.

Once again the Esquimalt did one round trip on route 2 Friday and Sunday and the Saanich did extra mid-week service last week. Someone I spoke to on the phone at BC Ferries has said that maybe starting in May and for Sept., the Esquimalt will have scheduled runs Fri. and Sun.
For the Thanksgiving weekend, the Vancouver is doing a 2000h from Tsawassen on Fri. Oct. 6 with a return trip from Swartz Bay at 2200h.

3 sail wait, that is crazy! The Esquimalt did a roundtrip this morning from Departure Bay. Friday night the 10:45pm sailing from TSA to DUKE was full.
