It's to cover exposed working areas... not paint.

It is hard to do work on the inside of theose old ships because of all those supports that get in the way.

Well, I think a B class needs a refit too. But I definatly think that she will be in way better condition than the other V's and B's. GO NANAIMO!

I do not understand why BC Ferries spends money on vessels that will get retired in five years. I think that BC Ferries needs to get new vessels now and stop messing around with old vessels because you end up wasting money on old vessels for renovations. The C class is going in for 20 more years which to me is acceptable but five years or less to me is wasting money

The Nanaimo and New Westminster will be in the fleet for at least another 10 years because of this refit. Same with the Burnaby too I believe.

if so then it maybe good to spend a few million on refit but what I wonder is why does it take 250 million US dollars for a vessel of equal age to get a refit only for iterior? but I think it is much less because all systems were upgraded but if you were to refit a ship for that much you might as well get three new vessels. "250 million is what it took on the Kaleetan to get it renovated"

$250 million American? I find that too hard to believe...it could of been $25.0 million?

it was 250 million to upgrade the kaleetan, that is what I heard from my father just to do alot of steal work and replace interior plus the engines.

Wouldn't this refit bring up the value of these ferries as well when they decide to sell them?

When did they do this Dan? They could build a ferry of the same size EASILY for less than $250 million, so I don't think it's true....

they are spending 13 million on the nanny and it is 2/3 1/3 so about 8 million for what the passengers will actually see

With that 8 million they will make the renovations like they did to the Spirit of British Columbia and Vancouver Island

They aren't putting a pay-lounge in are they...? It's one thing to have it on an optional route onboard a large ship, but they should stick to more basics on this more-essential route.

They also need a way to get less crew on the ships like for when the Burnaby goes in next year Powell River-Comox loses money
