:)thank-you again mr horn, for your wonderful shots from up seamour narrows way, quite a shipwatchin perch! I am not enamoured with the new generation Holland America ships, but I guess I have been spoiled by the old classic ships I grew up with! I guess thats why all the new generation boxboats are looking so ugly to my eyes, and I am having difficulty accepting todays realities. :)mrdot.

I love the cruise ships! Some are better looking than others but the ones I have seen and cruised on have been really nice ships!

Some Seattle cruise ship action, as seen from The Space Needle: Saphire Princess and a Holland America ship (not sure which one) tucked behind the much larger Princess at Piers 90/91 Norwegian Pearl (I think) at Pier 66, and one of WSF's Jumbo Mark II's sliding past

Yeah that would be the Sapphire Princess and the Oosterdam and the Norwegian Pearl. Those ships are in Victoria the night before every Saturday night.

Hello friends of ferries and other ships, maybe there is an interest in the interior of cruise-ships. If so, I want to remark that I put some slide shows about Cunard`s Queen Mary 2 in my you tube channel. I took a short cruise from May 4th - May 8th this year from Hamburg, Germany to Oslo, Norway. As I am an amateur only I want to apologize my unprofessional photos. Nevertheless enyoy... www.youtube.com/TorTasKB Some slide shows concerning May 7th and 8th will be uploaded some days later.

Basically floating, top-heavy mega hotels, featuring such inane amenities as 'rock climbing walls' etc. etc. If I want to rock climb, body surf, golf or whatever, I'll do that ashore not on an overpriced, tourist packed party boat Bring on the true ocean liners, past and present from Swedish America Line, Holland America, Cunard, P & O, French Line, Union Castle, now THOSE were Ships! Anyone seriously considering a 'vacation cruise', should do themselves a real favour and check out companies that offer sailing ship cruises, ie. WindJammer, or River cruises in Europe or North America.

I love cruise ships and cruising. There is nothing better than that waking up everyday somewhere different. Everything is included well mostly everything. The ships are beautiful the 3 cruise ships I have been on. Some cruise ships are nicer than others though. I dont think I would be interested in a sailing ship cruise. Not the type of cruise I am interested in. The older ships like the ocean liners I think are pretty cool but I am more for the modern cruise ships. You have to stick with the times instead of living in the past. Times have changed. I mean I liked the older BC Ferries and I miss alot of the V's and so on that have been retired but they had to have been retired eventually same with the older ocean liners. Not trying to be mean but that is just my opinion. Celebrity and NCL rock!!!

:)yes, indeed times have changed and that is why Holland America and all the other major cruise companies have gone to these mega vista type hulls with acres of verandas and climbing walls etc. The major players in this industry realize that it is a different croud that cruises than the old fashoned ship purists like myself, that are the bulk of the market, and these people are not interested in ships shape, but rather ship ameneties, and for that reason they are building rather unsightly vessels, but with every amenity one could imagine! :)mrdot.

The only ship I think that looks a bit weird right now is the Norwegian Epic! With those decks piled above the bridge it looks a bit odd! But alot of the other ships I have seen look pretty good!

A cruise ship that is a mystery to me. - seen on the Inside Passage in early July 2011, at the intersection of Fitz Hugh Sound and Burke Channel. She's headed south. We were aways up Burke Channel, so I couldn't get a close enough photo to see her name or cruise-line company name. - next to a tug and barge

Not sure which ship that is, but is that not the Disney Cruise Line?
I'm pretty sure I see Mickey Mouse's head on that stack.

That's definitely The Disney Wonder on her normal South bound route( Same route the Volendam uses. When she homeports in Seattle next year she won't using that route The Regatta pictured a couple of posts above the Wonder also will not be Home porting in Vancouver next season as Oceania has chosen to withdraw from the market.

Regatta was in Victoria today! Disney Wonder I think looks ugly from the front, lol! I saw her at Ogden Point earlier this year and thought she had a wierd bow and bridge structure.

Campbell River is not alone with an unused cruise ship dock. Prince Rupert is loosing Norwegian next summer, with the weekly port call switching to Victoria for Norwegian Star. No more Sunday morning passing by Campbell River either, as she will used the outside route.

The East coast Van Island cities depend on Seattle based ships stopping there, but generally only Vancouver based ships use the inside passage. The Amsterdam hat does 2 week roundtrips from Seattle will likely continue to use the IP on her north bound trip
The West coast of the island makes for a much less interesting 1sr & last 36hrs of the cruise

I womder Where she is heading after Nanaimo? Womder. This odd word isn't used very often in modern day vocabulary. So rarely that I'm not sure people will know what it means. Just to clarify for those who aren't sure, here's what a trusted lexiconic source tells us: www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=womderI'm not sure you used the word correctly, Gordon. ;D
