Yes the ship will go into Vancouver Harbour. Ooh, she's gonna strut down the catwalk CR style, eh? I've decided that I'm going to use my charts to track the NE's first journey to Prince Rupert.

Cool - I had a feeling this would happen, which should allow for some brilliant viewing opportunities.

The NORTHERN EXPEDITION should now be crossing a line due west from Portland and Tillamook.
GOOD NEWS!
That rascal Speedy Gonzales has just did a favor for the crew. As you know, he robbed the galley of all cheese while the ship was on Mexican waters. Well, he donned warmer attire, zoomed out, and has delivered delicious cheese from that famous Oregon cheese factory. He apologized to the crew of his nastiness and is already back in Mexico.
Now, the crew could enjoy hamburgers in the mess on the final night of the cruise! ;D

I'm pretty sure the crew would prefer him to deliver a couple flats (or kegs?) of Heineken, rather than cheese.
The crew seems to be pretty confident they'll arrive on time tomorrow, as her speed hasn't wavered at all. Still doing a stately 14 knots.

Too bad you have to zoom all the way in to get the lat/lon of a fix when using that site. The lat/lon should be immediately shown in the pop-up bubble you get when you click on a fix on that map.
BCF's NE tracking map now shows the BC coast.

Twas the night before the NORTHERN EXPEDITION's triumphant arrival in Bathtub City, Canada, it's time for us to pay another visit to her builders, once again. Oh, say can you see? By the beautiful lights of FSG, we see a ship missing from her pier! The UN ship has been cut loose from the pier and is out on sea trials. Knowing Mr. Brinkmann and his amazing hard hatters, I think she'll return with another set of smiling navigators satisfied of her performance. That patient tug must be awaiting for her return. Inside the "Shipbuilder's Cathedral", that new ship is ready for her nose!

Direct AIS data indicates that the Northern Expedition crossed into Washington state waters at approximately 01:20 UTC (17:20 PST, 34 days 17h06m VET). The next mark event will be the NE's crossing of 48°N, at which point she will make contact with Tofino VTS.

Fingers are crossed for me to make it down to Departure Bay in time to watch her arrival. The revised time to 4:30pm might just work out perfectly. We'll see what happens though

Does any one know if this delivery voyage is the shortest yet of the four new builds from FSG? Furthermore will it be the shortest overall or will the Q Chilliwack still reign supreme?

This one's for you, ferrynut... The NE is now due west of Seattle, continuing north at 14 knots. (Note: This position was determined using dead reckoning.)

She's now in range of Siitech again. Still pushing almost 15 knots.

The NE is now inside of 100 NM from Departure Bay. She has just altered course to face the southern entrance to the Strait of Juan de Fuca vessel traffic matrix.

I will be up throughout the night continuing to track the NE's position all the way to her landing at Departure Bay.
The NE has just entered the Strait of Juan de Fuca vessel traffic matrix. Once she crosses longitude 124°40'W going eastbound, she will tune her radio to VHF channel 5A and check in with Seattle Traffic. This AIS fix was received at an APRS base station in Ucluelet.
The NE has passed to the north of Neah Bay, checked in with Seattle Traffic, and settled comfortably into the traffic flow in the Strait of Juan de Fuca. She is sailing inbound at 15 knots. And this very fix marks the 10,000 NM odometric point on the NE's delivery voyage.
