Settle down boys the explanation is very simple. The Queen of Richmond is on a super secret mission to ferry sensitive submarine weapons from San Diego Navy Base to the range off Nanoose. She is shadowing the Nor Ex and her cloaking device is interfering with the NorEx's tracking. If the gap widens between the two ferries the NorEx will pop back up. That stealth shield on the QoR is getting frustrating. I understand the need for the fog bank, but they should really just shut the transponder off so they don't need the jammer on. It is really messing with the NorEx's systems!

The Northern Expedition crossed into Canadian waters at exactly 14:38 UTC (06:38 PST, 35 days 06h24m VET). As of 15:00 UTC, the NE is now in contact with Victoria Traffic on VHF channel 11A. The NE is following right behind the Hong Kong-registered cargo ship Saga Crest, and the pilot vessel Pacific Scout has just set course for Brotchie Station.
After putting a pilot aboard the Saga Crest, the Pacific Scout is now heading for the NE.
And the NE now has her pilot and can proceed to Vancouver. Gee, it's like I'm live-blogging here.
07:42 PST: It seems as though the NE is doing some kind of Crazy Ivan.

Looks like she is lolly gagging for the press/pilot - I wonder if Hahn and other BCFerries folk will be boarding for the remainder of the trip? I could see the various news outlets putting a boat or two out for their coverage.

Just in case you weren't paying attention to the BCF tracker, they've just massively upped its fix frequency.
Hey! Excellent shots, Gerhard! And a nice sunny day this time around.
Hmmm... I noticed ferrynut was asleep this time around—no Race Rocks shots of the NE.

Now the question is - will she do a spin by Swartz?

If she wants to go through Active Pass, I think she'll have to stop by Swartz Bay first to pick up the proper personnel—those guys who know Active Pass inside and out. But to save time, I think she should use Boundary Pass.

The QofRichmond must be hidden on her far side again because the NorEx keeps falling off Siitech . Too bad she is so secretive or we could call the Richmond's cell phone and tell her to back off .

And she's now back in Canadian waters.

Hey, Mayne Queen! Hey, Queen of Cumberland! Get ready to meet your new cousin! And enjoy the meeting while you can, because it's likely the only time you're gonna see her—at least for quite a while, 'cuz she's goin' north.
The NE is now formally entering the BC Ferries service area. NW at 19.2 knots.
Just saw her on the map passing the Queen of Cumberland green-to-green. And here comes the SOVI getting ready to meet yet another new niece!

Those Spook passengers in Active Pass are going to get a unique view. One of the oldest QofVan and then the newest NorEx within a few minutes of each other.

Now emerging into the Strait of Georgia, and she's exceeded 20 knots.
Now over the stately 49th parallel, and it looks as though the NE is going to cut across the Strait of Georgia vessel traffic matrix. North at 19.6 knots.
