Do we have anyway to confirm the launch time. Given it's less than 48 hrs to the event I'm doubtful - it really isn't looking ready.

Hmm....Could you see if they had removed the dock and pilings that are right below the ways? I'd assume those would have to be removed a few days prior to the launch.
Blackshadow, what's your story on this?
Fingers crossed that it's all still a go for Friday!

Yeah, confirmation would be nice peace of mind, especially for those coming from the island, and even more so for the anyone who's planning on skipping work/school >COUGHkarlCOUGH< for this.

I'm gonna take another look tomorrow but given it's current state I am doubtful, but anything is possible and the most recent work on it has happened in a flash.
Luckily, I'm crossing the bridge at about 2:55pm whether it's being launched or not to get home from school!

Reminds me of when I skipped my university history class to watch all three PacifiCats sail into Vancouver harbour for the auction!

ok here's what I think we should do. Does everybody know where Phibbs Exchange is? I was thinking we could meet up there, or we could meet at the Tim Horton's nearby at around 2:30-2:45. We could watch the launching from the dike if is open to the public for the launching, or we could watch it from the Second Narrows Bridge. Then I think a trip to Timmy Ho's would be a good way end off another ferry nerd meeting.
I can make it pretty easily, and I think Chris wants to come, and of course Karl. Do we have anyone else wishing to join? Everyone is welcome to attend!

Jeez, may as well leave my rain gear on, when I get off from work....
I'm going regardless of the weather.

I am not too sure now about tommorrow. We are down to one car at the moment and I might have to drive my parents around to do some errans tommorrow and we have to put money down for our cruise by tommorrow too so that has to be done so I am not totally sure if I will be going. I guess for only 30-60 mins at the most you guys would probably be there I could just as well see the videos of it that you guys get. If I dont end up going tommorrow I might do an afternoon ferry trip somewhere.

Karl, I could get you there on transit if you're up for it, and even meet you at the terminal in order to show you what busses to take, because we all know how rare and historic such a launching is; the same goes for anyone else within reach of transit on the Island or the Mainland.

I'll try and see if I can make it. If I can get a ride with Chris from HSB it could work out. What time will you be going by there Chris???

Seeming you're catching the 12:30 out of DPB, I'll leave work an extra hour early, to come and pick you up at 2:10, Karl. I take it, we'll all be meeting at the Timmy Hoes located beside the Seymour River bridge, on the Dollarton Highway, somewhere around 2:30ish?

2:30 sounds good to me, early enough to get a good spot and make sure everyone makes it. Personally I'll be arriving earlier to scout the area for signs of progress and maybe a good spot to watch from.

I imagine someone has checked with Allied to make sure the launch is actually happening at the time you've been told- if not, Allied's number is 604-929-2365.

That might be a good idea. I will have to leave by 10:30am at the latest so I would like to know before then if it's not happening, otherwise I will be on the 12:30pm to HSB.

She's now displaying signal flags... I have no idea what they say, though!
The weather is awful.
