The Oaky is uglier on the inside because of its orange and green interior

I was down in Vancouver today and I was going over the Second Narrows bridge and I looked over to the Vancouver Drydock and I could see Oaky sitting in the drydock with her paint stripped like Cowichan was last year and the only paint thats on her is the paint around her bridges and the funnel or I may as well just mean anything above the passenger deck was still painted except the railing. It look weird because I was used to seeing the Cowichan in the same place and Oak Bay just looks so much bigger passenger deck wise.

Cool i'll see that next time im in Vancouver and if what kyle fossett said about putting the refurbished Oaky on Langdale-Horseshoe Bay my next trip to Vancouver could be my last time on the Surrey before it's Mid Life refit. Also what C-Class(not including Alberni) is best for Langdale-Horseshoe Bay and Departure Bay-Horseshoe Bay?

For langdale-hsb, i would say one that has a longer passenger area such as the oakbay or surrey because only one ship serves that route, minus esquimalt

It will be repainted for two reasons:
1) I believe BCF still, even under private hostels repaints vessels every 2 years 2) There is no paint on it right now.

Yeah and plus she need the new fancy writing for her name on the sides and plus they'll be covering up alot of the cardeck windows with new steel and they'll be adding the life raft chutes and that all needs to be painted too so that is a really good thing they're stripping her down cause its about time.

So where do you guys think she is in her refit? Like whether or not they have the new chutes in, or at the point where all of the walls are ripped apart and the cafteria isn't even in the shape it was before?

Yay, I will get to go on the Queen of Surrey more of she is on the Departure Bay run rather than the Langdale run when the Oak Bay goes back into service. I have only been on the Surrey once and that was years ago. I was thinking of taking a trip over to Langdale to get a trip on the Surrey but maybe I should wait till the summer when she is at Departure Bay. Although I am probably going to curious what the Oaky is like too after refit. I still havent even been on the Cowichan since her midlife. A trip on her, maybe I will have to take soon!

It's gonna be different when I go to Vancouver in the summer but she's probably going to be on the route till the Surrey is finished Mid Life

Yup and Vancouver is sitting right beside her in the other seaspan drydock and pointing towards the building the fastcats were built in.

According to the RBI she's going back to her original spot on HSB-DPB on June 19th 2005!! Coquitlam is then going to do the Langdale route in place of Surrey, and then Surrey is going to be the #2 out of Departure Bay and then by the winter of course she will be in refit! htthttps://welcome.bcferries.com/rbi/index.asp?RT=V-SCps://welcome.bcferries.com/rbi/index.asp?RT=V-VI

That will be cool having the coq on the sunshine coast and the surrey on the number two.

The Last time I went to Langdale on the coq was is April 2000, when she was replacing the Surrey for some reason.

There is finally a notice on the BCF site stating Oaky Bay is out now, Cowichan and Coquitlam were only 30 million each to do mid life on, Oak Bay is 40 million. I knew it was gonna be more but I didn't think 10 million more. www.bcferries.com/news/files/04-003oakbaymlu.pdf

cost of supplies can change in a year or two time. look at the price of steel over the last couple of years. it has gotten ridiculous.

It would be funny if the reason was because the Oaky and Surr have longer passenger areas but it's probably what Kylefosset said

Maybe if they don't stretch her passenger decks but they really should and then she would be more usable on the other 2 routes that C-Class run on if they ever need her.
