You know what I think that hole might be for? Well there was lots of stuff to strip off of her from that passenger deck and lots of stuff to put on her. Just imagine having to carry all of that stuff up the stairs like carrying those stools for the cafe, or carrying a row of those seats? or even trying to fill the elevator up with stuf. SO what I'm trying to get at is that they probably use a crane and pull a big crate of all of that stuff and then assemble it up in the passenger area. Makes sense to make a hole there because they had those 2 decks that stuck out from the passenger area so they could just get the crane to put everything on those decks and then carry them in.

thats a solid theory... expensive way to do it but it would make a lot of sense. The Spirits I, I think, were the first ships designed with forethought to large loads needed on the passenger decks with their special loading doors and crane like aperatures.

the v class and the nanny all have cranes on the aft deck right behind the cafeteria. the v class hoist off of the upper car deck and the nanny off the car deck. i believe the burnaby and possibly the tsawwassen are the same

They should of just popped out a window and thrown all the old crap to the dry-dock floor.

on the v class and the nanny there is a deck behind the cafeteria and they hoist onto that I think I once saw them using one of the cranes on the back of the Esquimalt when I was at....I dunno.... either Dep Bay, Horseshoe Bay, or Langdale, I can't remember.
