Spirit of British Colombia, what sailings will you be taking on Thursday?? Are you coming to the island or are you doing a roundtrip?? I am actually thinking maybe of going after work on Friday night from Swartz Bay on the 5pm and just stay on a come back and get some photos in between loads at Tsawwassen. I am definately going to go on Tuesday for the day to Vancouver so I will be her definately then, and also maybe Friday too. I havent decided yet.

I just saw the BCTV, news and they showed the SOBC, I know where the new Pay Lounge is, the SOBC is just like the Cowichan and Coquitlam's interior!!! It looks awesome from the photos I saw on the news, I cant wait to go on her!! I am so excited. I might just go now Friday night to do a roundtrip.

"the SOBC is just like the Cowichan and Coquitlam's interior!!!" - See, this is exactly what I've sort-of been railing against. I mean, it's nice that she got a re-fit, but now, because it looks like ALL the ships, not just the "C" class are all going to have the same interior design, they're stripping all the ships of their individual appeal Curious what the Burnaby is gonna look like when she gets back? Just look at the inside of the Cowichan. Specualting what the Nanaimo's refit is gonna look like? Hey - just look at the inside of the Coquitlam. And...HEY, can't WAIT to see what the first new Super C will look like on the inside?, well by that time, just look at the interior of ANY major vessel and you'll already know!

Anyone want to know where the new pay lounge is?? Can anyone guess???
I do like the new interior on the Cowichan and Coquitlam. I see what Biff's saying about all the ships going to look the same inside. In one way it's cool, but on the other hand, it takes away the individuality from each ship. It;s less interesting if the ferries are all the same, imaging if every BC Ferry was an S class, or a C class, we need different ships to keep in interesting.
Just picture this, the Queen of Saanich redone like the Cowichan and Coquitlam's fancy interior, hard floors, new seats, on a V class.
Well actually now we have four different ships on the route 1 now with all different interiors, the new SOBC, the SOVI which hasent been done yet with the older Spirit class interior, the Queen of Saanich which has the nicer interior and the classic old Queen of Vancouver interior. The last time I was on the Queen of Victoria she had the old yellow carpet and had the really old interior before what the Queen of Vancouver looks like now.
Which vessel do you think most people on route 1 will want to travel on now?? SOBC, SOVI, Queen of Saanich, then Vancouver would be last!

You are right Karl, that is what makes a ferry a ferry. That is why I like the BC Ferries, they have different ships for everything and different interiors. To see that all go away would stink.

Yeah, I'm going home in Vancouver for the Easter weekend. I think I'll get on the SOBC on Thursday with the 1:00pm sailing from Swartz Bay. Can't wait to see the renovated SOBC.

I might take a trip on the SOBC tommorrow night, I know, it's gonna be packed. Probably not a good time to go, but who cares. Depending on whether I go roundtrip on the 5pm and stay onboard or go over on the 4pm and get off then catch the 7pm SOBC back I dont if I will be getting any photos. I might be able to if I do the 5pm return and stay onboard and take photos when everyone is off. But I havent decided if I am going for sure cause I also want to go to Vancouver on Tuesday so I will be going on Tuesday too for the day.
I also thought if I was off work earlier I could of gone on the 3pm SOVI and then the 7pm SOBC back to see the difference in both ships now, be kinda neat. I have to decided yet.

Wow Tsawwassen to Duke Point is busy. 10pm and two lanes waiting to go through the toll booths at Tsawwassen looking at the webcam, two lanes also inside waiting for the 10:45 sailing which is going to be busy tonight.

who works in the lounges, anyways? Does the ship now requie additional crew? (Kepping in mind the Spirits are only licensed to 1200 passengers right now)

Why the heck are they only licensed to carry 1200 passengers??? That is kind of stupid! The biggest ships in the fleet restricted to only 1200 passengers compared to 2100, what is up with that? That's not very good!

It might just be during the winter months or the low season.

The # of crew required for 2000 passengers was "extravagent" for their needs, plus they hardly ever fill up on passengers @ 1200. (I did miss a boat in 2000, the New West, because she was at her max. person capacity!)
