They should never realy have more than one major ship in for annual refitt at the same time. Untill the C Class mid lifes are done. IT causes too much problems.
I bet a lot of truckers are angry on the Mid Island Express.

Yes I think the Vancouver is in berth 4 at Tsawwassen as I thought I saw her through the webcam this morning.
ok, how about this, put out a call for help, all available vessels we need. Get the Bowen out of Fulford, run her to Tsawwassen from Swartz Bay and back. Take a bit longer but 70 cars is better than 70+ cars sitting in the line. Another ship we need, we should get WSF to lend us a vessel, ya think they would if they had one?? Damn if we still had the Sidney if she was operational and the Victoria. Where's the Queen of the North?? Well I know she is at Deas, is she operational at this point?, they could even use her if they werent working on here and she was able to run at the moment.
We need vessels!! Help us!!

I'm pretty sure the Queen of the North can transit the active pass, so I think they could use her on the extra sailings on Sunday and Friday until they fis the Vancouver.
Now, I wonder if they will run the ships faster on the weekend to keep up with the demand

I think she could go through Active Pass, but I don't think it would work for her to dock at Tsawwassen because of her Bow door, and the single ramped docks are closed right now to because they're being rebuilt. Also I think it would work alot better to move the Nanny on that route and have Bowen Queen do the Nanny's route, just because the Nanny can take more cars I'm assuming because of her ramps and her size.

Modify the route 1 schedule, have ferries go at 6am instead of 7am and do more roundtrips.
Sailings from both Tsawwassen and Swartz Bay on Fridays and Sundays, just an example
6am 8am 10am 12pm 2pm 4pm 6pm 8pm 10pm 12am Dont know how crewing would work, one crew might have a longer shift.
Or keep them the same and run the Bowen Queen behind the SOVI on a few trips to carry an extra 70cars . Or have the Queen of the North do some, like that would ever happen though.

That schedule would require 3 daily crews, as opposed to two, so unless ridership increase 50% it's unaffordable.

They could work longer shifts. Dont the Duke Point crews work like 10 hour days?? I would say running the Bowen Queen behind the SOVI would be a good idea and if you had another smaller ship like the Mayne Queen run her from Tsawwassen behind the Saanich, not as nice and would take longer but could work. Then just get a smaller replacement for the Mayne Queen on the Gulf Islands, or better than the Bowen use Cumbie but like mr engineer said they are not certified to cross the strait. Another option use the Nanny to Swartz Bay as part of the Gulf Island trips.

if duke point runs 10 hour shifts then it is probably a 4 shift cycle. using the nanny to go on through to swartz bay will not work either. she home ports at long harbour with a crew change there. they run 8 hour shifts on route 9. also just because it is march the nanny can still be pretty full leaving tsawwassen for the gulf islands. the bowen queen may or may not be able to do a run across the strait at this time of year. might be to rough.

I had to post that, I found it quite amusing that you become god at 500 posts. In a month or so, most of us frequent posters will become "Gods"

In CTV (channel 9)'s news report today, about the ferry cancellations this weekend, there were some great shots of the Queen of Vancouver, taken from CTV's new high tech helicopter. Quite impressive . Seeing as most of you will read this after the 6 o'clock news, try and catch the 11:30 pm news if you want to see aerial footage of the Queen of Vancouver.

Right now RBI shows all sailings from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen for Friday are all reserved except for the 9pm. So the only reservation you could get would be for the last sailing. Your better bet if you going for the weekend to Vancouver would be Duke Point or Departure Bay.
The 1,3,5, 7 and 8:30 sailings from Swartz Bay are gone for Sunday too.
If it were me I would go Departure Bay anyway. Cause route 1 is going to be a mess again this weekend.
Also Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay for Friday the 3,5, 6:30 and 7 sailings are all taken and from Tsawwassen on Sunday the only one gone right now is the 6:30.

Jeez it really almost seems like there really needs to be one more V-Class to help out...I was thinking....QUEEN OF VICTORIA! She could of come in real handy right now if she was in good running condition and wasn't doing any other routes and was sitting at Deas like she was for the last couple of years while she was part of BCF. The reason why I say have what was the true lady of the fleet in place of Vancouver, is because of how most of the major route ferries have are either moved somewhere else or in refit obviously.

Speaking of the Queen of Victoria, The Province incorrectly reported that the Queen of Victoria is out of service. IT seems odd how a ship seems to live on long after she leaves the country. (see page a10 of Thursdays issue)

Yeah I know, it pisses me off when the newspaper or media get things wrong all the time like saying the Queen of Victoria instead of the Vancouver. Or calling a V class a superferry which I have seen in the paper before a V class called a superferry.

Yeah I hate it when anybody gets the name of a ferry completely wrong. Back in the summer I was on Queen of Coquitlam and I was waiting to get off via the foot passenger ramp as we were waiting for the ship to dock at departure bay, then I overheard someone ask which ferry is this? so the person looked over the edge to see which one it was, then the person looked back up and said oh this is Queen of Victoria. Like how wrong is that, someone calling Queen of Coquitlam Queen of Victoria

It's your personalized picture. You have to enter a full URL, eg: www.geocities.com/strongskier87/me2005.jpg or whatever. It cannot be on your PC, it must be on a website, so what you should do is just copy and paste the URL of your desired picture into the appropriate text field.

Yeah you have to do it on your website. It's almost like the same way you add a picture to a topic without adding the link. I don't know if it works with Yahoo photos, I tried to start a Geocities site but it didn't work and way to complicated to use I thought, so I deleted the site. But I still have the File Manager thing for it, and I just uploaded the picture to that site, then I typed the URL into the profile thing. I hope you don't mind I have that picture there, if you do mind I will remove it immediately if you want.
