Last night (friday) I was on the 9 o'clock sailing from Swartz Bay to Tsawwassen, and I've never seen so few cars on that size of a ferry before (mind you, I haven't been on many sailings under the same kinds of circumstances). I took photos of the car decks to show just how emty it was, and tomorow I'll post them. I can't remember the exact number of cars (you'll see in the pics), but it's was around a dozen on the entire ferry (Queen of Saanich). Quite a sight!

I bet that would of been a nice quiet sailing. I have never been on a V class when they have been empty as only times I have been on them are during busy sailings. I was in Vancouver on New Years Eve day and came back that night from Tsawwassen on the 9pm sailing the SOVI and that was the first time I had been on that ferry when it was that empty. The lower vehicle deck wasent even half full. The New West to Duke Point that night was the same.

Issued March 06, 2005
The Quadra Queen II has developed problems with her starboard propeller and is currently experiencing sailing delays of approximately one hour. The length of delay is expected to increase as the day progresses.
The vessel will be removed from service and dry-docked so that repairs may be completed. BC Ferries is arranging for a suitable replacement vessel. Delays may be expected until the replacement vessel is in service on the route, expected to be early this week.
Updated information will be provided as soon as it becomes available. Updates are also available by contacting Port McNeill terminal at 956-4533, or by calling toll free to 1-888-223-3779 between 7:00 am and 10:00 pm.
BC Ferries apologizes to our customers for the inconvenience these delays will cause. We are working to restore regular service as quickly as possible
I wonder which ship they are going to get to replace her??

ok according to the current conditions page the Queen of Vancouver departed Swartz Bay at 4:33pm. Anyone know if this is true??? Queen of Saanich is still filling in for the Vancouver so did the Queen of Vancouver make a trip from Tsawwassen today?? Obviously if she departed Swartz Bay this afternoon.
Also the RBI for Friday has the Queen of Vancouver listed doing her normal SOBC sailings and the Queen of Saanich is listed as back to the extra sailings tommorrow. A few of the sailings are already reserved for tommorrow.

I cannot believe this, well guys here we go again, this time the SOVI, both Spirits are out again. Here is the service notice.
The Spirit of Vancouver Island is experiencing a mechanical problem. Divers found rope around one of the propellors and the vessel has an oil leak.
As an environmental precaution the vessel has been removed from service until repairs can be completed.
The Queen of Saanich has been pressed into service from Swartz Bay and the Queen of Esquimalt will move from the Duke Point route to do one round trip on the Tsawwassen - Swartz Bay route today.
On the Tsawwassen - Swartz Bay route the following schedule is in effect:
Depart Tsawwassen 7 am, 10 am, 11 am, 2 pm, 3 pm, 6 pm, 6:30 pm, 7 pm, 10 pm.
Depart Swartz Bay 8 am, 9 am, 12 noon, 1 pm, 4 pm, 5 pm, 8 pm, 8:30 pm, 9 pm.
On the Duke Point - Tsawwassen route the 6:30 pm departure from Tsawwassen and the 9:10 pm departure from Duke Point are cancelled.

I wonder how long it will take them to do the repairs. I will have to watch the news later and see if anything is said about it.

It seems the Surrey fire gave a curse to break down Swartz Bay-Tsawwassen vessels hasn't it?

Or the rumor that Sidney has been chopped up. Seeming she WAS the FIRST SHIP BUILT FOR BC FERRIES and was based out of Swartz Bay.

The Ferry Queen of Sidney.
Woah check out the cam at Swartz Bay, it's plugged like a toilet there. But Tsawwassen looks pretty normal.

Looks like SOBC comes back on Thursday now. I was just watching BCTV and they said that Thursday is the earliest she can come back so service can resume as normal.
