The SOVI had better be fixed by next week or there will be mayhem on route 1 next weekend, with spring break starting on Friday.

oh man, still a 2 sailing wait as of 7:15pm and lined up outside Swartz Bay. SOVI is listed tommorrow and Tuesday in service but I doubt that and also all reservations are gone for all sailings on Monday and Tuesday and Wednesday is filling up fast!

Oh my gosh, what's happening to Swartz Bay route vessels? It was the Queen of Vancouver and now it's the Spirit of Vancouver Island. I feel so sorry for the people who are traveling today. You know what, BC Ferries should return the Queen of Alberni to service on the Duke Point route after the early return of the Queen of Surrey, so that the Queen of Esquimalt can provide extra sailings on Swartz Bay run. Thanks for reading.

The Queen of Alberni is out for clutch problems so she wont be able to return to service early which does suck as they really need her so they can free the Esquimalt from Duke Point as we really need the Esquimalt now on route 1 with both Spirits out we need the three V class! I hope the SOVI isent going to be out for too long. It is not as bad during the week but when the weekend comes and with spring break it gets crazy.
geez! Travel by water and air are crazy right now with some ferries out of service and Jetsgo gone.

Also the Coho was out of service till today so the only way to Vancouver Island by car was the BC Ferries so that explains why there is a bit more traffic on the ferries. The Coho returns tommorrow so alot of americans should be going that route and also the Sidney to Anacortes route should be back at the end of this month.

The Queen of Saanich is doing an extra sailing at midnight back to Tsawwassen as there is like a dozen cars left over from the 9pm sailing at Swartz Bay. I am just viewing the Tsawwassen webcam to see if everyone is going to get on the 10pm and if the Saanich will be deadheading it back to Swartz Bay at around 2am.

Poor Queen of Saanich, as she carries all the burden after the breakdown of SOVI.

yes she do, she just left Tsawwassen at 10:20pm. I was watching the webcam and looks like cars were heading back to the toll booths, maybe for a refund but if they have to get to the island tonight the Queen of Esquimalt sails at 11:50 to Duke Point if people dont want to wait till 2am for the Saanich to arrive. If it were me I would forget and go tommorrow. I think the Esquimalt should go at 10:50 instead of 11:50as she will be arriving right now from Swartz Bay then have to wait till 11:50. But I guess if people show up after 11 they would be pissed if it already left. Poor Saanich, she seems to always be working the hardest and late into the night. Poor crew too, long day today for some of them getting back into Swartz Bay at like 3:30am.

Well if SOVI isn't fixed by Tuesday, I'm sure Queen of Esquimalt will take over. Because Tuesday is when Queen of Alberni returns from I'm guessing the Vancouver drydock.

So why does the Actual Departures page say that the Queen of Saanich was scheduled to leave at 8, not 7am. Is that because they had just found the problems with the SOVI, and had to call in the Saanich crew (or transfer the SOVI crew to the Saanich)?

I just checked actual departures page. The Saanich did a scheduled trip from Tsawassen for 1:30 this morning, but it didn't leave until 1:50AM.

Yes she did. And as of this morning Monday at 9am there is a 2 sailing wait already from Swartz Bay. We need the SOVI back soon. Or get the Alberni going see they can use the Esquimalt on route 1!

SOBC will be back on Friday. It's the first day she is listed back in service. Hopefully the SOVI will be back by then so they can get back to normal on route 1. All these problems we are having on route 1 and route 2 is just running like normal.

The SOVI is on it's way into the Esquimalt drydock right now. If they're putting her into the drydock to do the repairs, it probably isn't just a quick fix.

According to BC Ferries website, the Queen of Alberni has returned to service on the Duke Point route as of 1:05pm today. This allows the Queen of Esquimalt to provide additional sailings on the Swartz Bay route, starting this afternoon. From tomorrow (Tuesday) to Thursday, she will depart from Swartz Bay at 6:00am and depart from Tsawwassen at 8:00am to ease off morning traffic. If required, she will also provide more extra sailings. This means that the Spirit of British Columbia is likely to return to service from refit on Friday.

According to RBI the SOVI is listed back in service on Friday along with the SOBC and the Queen of Saanich as an extra. I will try and get down to the Esquimalt Lagoon where I can see the drydock from there to see where the SOVI is.

The Queen of Alberni had its clutch issue rectified, and as I'm sure you all read earlier returned to Route 30. I'm curious which schedule she used (the published schedule was still in effect for the slower V class)

running the "Esquimalt" schedule for today as it's published and we can't be leaving people stranded who thought there was a later sailing. Back to normal tomorrow however. The Esquimalt schedule involved an hour of overtime to both the morning and afternoon watches.
