Hyak features prominently in this video of an evening of ferry watching from Anacortes. - this is 3.5 hours of my fun, sped-up for this video.
Evening of July 14, 2014. A good time.

Hyak, with Elwha in the background. - evening at Anacortes. The multiple windows on a Super make for a nice sunset shot.

The mighty Hyak seen from shore at Anacortes, in the evening of July 14, 2014. With Elwha just departed, and Chelan arriving in the distance Hyak in the slip, Chelan arriving Hyak leaving, Chelan in the slip A lovely setting for watching ships on a warm summer night.

Back in August, I took a ride on the Hyak from Anacortes to Friday Harbor. Here's a few pictures I took from that trip. Here she is at Anacortes, waiting for us to board. Bulkward Name, M/V Hyak ~Washington State Ferries by Elwha On The Rocks, on Flickr I especially liked this one of the nets. M/V Hyak ~Washington State Ferries by Elwha On The Rocks, on Flickr Walk on passengers gathering on the cardeck upon arrival at Friday Harbor. The crew generously left some room at the bow of the vessel for foot passengers to gather, instead of having to squeeze between the cars. How is the bidding process for the LNG going? Rumor has it that no one has bid on this conversion. This conversion may never happen.

The Hyak went out and no one bid (hence the N/A after the listing); the LNG project has nine RFP notices, the last one stating: Nothing has happened since.

It is so very strange that they haven't added more chairs. It's a ferryboat, not a basketball court.

It is so very strange that they haven't added more chairs. It's a ferryboat, not a basketball court. Well you probably can't buy new ones. And putting the new style chairs in would look really out of place. Maybe when they retire the Evergreen State, someone can remember to pull the chairs out of her and send them up to the Hyak.

Took the K-E run on Tuesday to visit the folks. Got a tired-looking on the way over and a much in need of paint Spokane on the way back. Got some good photos of each, but focused mainly on the Hyak since she's not the usual boat on the run anymore. Three ferries for the price of one here. There were great clouds around on Tuesday evening.
