that's a great little "how to", Scott. Thanks for posting that. I've had members asking me how to upload photos before, so this would answer a lot of their questions. It might not hurt to do one for Flickr, too, since their process is a little different.

For Flickr, it depends which browser you are using. Tell me which browser, and I'll get back to you asap Safari for Mac. Okay, go to your photo in flickr. Click 'share'. Click 'Grab the HTML/BBCode' if it's not already selected. in the drop down menu, select 'large', and make sure the button below is set to BB Code, not HTML. Then click your mouse on the text box with all the text in it so it's highlighted. Push 'ctrl' and 'c' at the same time on your keyboard. Then go to the forum in a different tab and go to the thread which you want to reply in, and click in the reply box, then on your keyboard push 'ctrl' and 'v'. This should paste the text from the text box into the reply box. When you click reply, this code will post as your picture.

Preview is an application on Mac computers. Is free download? It's built in to all Macintosh/Apple computers. I'm not sure if it's downloable, but I do know it doesn't exist for PCs.

I'll jump in to say to Awesome-Cheese that if you want to get good advice on your questions, you need to start being more specific and elaborate, when you ask your questions. Your standard "WDUM" reply (What do U mean?) doesn't usually help the person to know what it is that you don't understand. So if you want an answer, you've got to ask a better question.

www.wikihow.com/Resize-Pictures-%28for-Macs%29After you crop the image to the approximate size, Make sure to check "Scale proportionally" so it doesn't get all squished looking. Remember, the maximum size for signature pics is 900 pixels wide and 260 pixels high.

Here is what I do to create my Forum Banner images using a photo-editing program - in my case, PhotoShop Elements.
1. I create a blank image in Photoshop and re-size it to be 1200 pixels wide by 340 pixels tall, the appropriate size and shape for the Forum Banner.
2. I open the photo I am going use for the banner.
3. I crop that photo using the crop tool so it is approximately the same long rectangular shape as the 1200x340 pixel banner image. It doesn't have to be perfect.
4. I then copy the cropped photo (CTRL-C)
5. Then paste (CTRL-V) the cropped photo into my blank 1200x340 file.
6. I will then re-size and shift the cropped photo so it looks good. I will often go back and forth between the 2 files and re-crop as necessary to get the best fit.
7. After that, I will sometimes add text if I feel the image needs a description.
8. When all of my editing is done, I save my 1200x340 file as a JPEG.
9. I then do a SAVE-AS, and rename it something else so I can re-size the copy to 1024 x 290 for the nomination thread per our Forum Flagship rules. We can post images no wider than 1024 pixels, but we need to provide the link to the full size image, 1200 pixels.
10. Finally, with both the nomination and actual header images created, I upload those to my Flickr account.

Awesome Cheese: In order for your photos to be eligible for the ballot, you need to make 2 changes, pursuant to the flagship rules, found here: ferriesbc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=flagship&action=display&thread=35101) For all your nominations, "We ask that you post your image at a reduced size to the forum and provide a link to the full-size image below it." - you need to post the link to the full-size 1200 x 340 banner, for each of your nominations. 2) For some of your photos: "To the best of your ability, we ask that the horizon and/or subject in your submission be as level as possible. Slanted photographs cause the upper section of the forum to become lopsided to the viewer and appear unprofessional." - this is for your Queen of Saanich item, Coho item, Queen of Oak Bay item, and Queen of Cowichan item. The Cowichan one is the most noticeable, but fixing the horizon-level on the other 3 also improves them so that they can be eligible as forum banner headers.
