I think you meant to put this in the COASTAL RENAISSANCE section. Apolo Anton Ohno is on the CR, not the CC. This is a zoom of the photo showing Ohno and the name COASTAL RENAISSANCE. I just wonder if the speed skater knows he's pictured on a ferry?

Did she sound the full chord or just the single note? No notes at all I think you meant to put this in the COASTAL RENAISSANCE section. Apolo Anton Ohno is on the CR, not the CC. This is a zoom of the photo showing Ohno and the name COASTAL RENAISSANCE. I just wonder if the speed skater knows he's pictured on a ferry? Wow, I certainly doppped the ball here. I shall move my photo to the appropriate thread. I made the same mistake the day I was traveling...

Just a few moments ago, we asked the Chief Steward as to why they only sound the single tone instead of the three tone horn. Response? "You heard another vessel. This ferry only has one tone."
We have video proof from earlier this afternoon of the tri-tone from a different Swartz Bay crew (on the 2 pm). We will post this video later to educate this crew that the three tone horn does indeed exist, and that they're unfortunately misinformed about how horns work.

One of these times, one of us guys needs to answer back and tell them to-their-face that they (in the case, the Chief Steward) are wrong.

The solution is for ferry geeks to get up there on the bridge and 're-instruct' the Captain & crew on how to properly use the ship's horn. Better yet there is this 'trainer' we know at BCFS who can instruct them on how to use the sewage-pump-ashore-system. Perhaps he can instruct them on the proper use of the horn too.

The most satisfying part of this whole thing, was when the Celebration left Tsawwassen on her 1800 to Swartz Bay, shortly after we disembarked, she sounded all three tones. I hope the Chief Steward heard the horn. Unless it was another ferry in disguise.

Here's a video with both single-tone (Bb) and three-tone (E Diminished - E, G, Bb) rolled into one. Both recordings were taken on Sunday's trip. www.flickr.com/photos/bcfs/7451584574/

You should dedicate this musical interlude to the C-C's Chief Steward.

I was on the Coastal Celebration's 8am sailing this morning to Tsawwassen. She took a wierd route from Swartz Bay she came her normal route out of berth 2 then instead of going the inbound Spirit route she turned port and went towards Fulford then got on the Spirit outbound route from there. I thought that was a bit different but dont know what the purpose of that was.

Sometimes they like going that way (via Shute Passage) so they're not tangling with the Spirit between Moresby and Portland Island since it can be a little tight through there with rocks Also, for the record I was aboard the Celebration last night. The three tone horn was being used for once

oh boy you got me on this one. You have another photo going that way of the Celebration?? I am sure I was on deck 5 going through active pass but I cant really see cause it's too dark in the photo. I thought I could see myself on deck 7 but I am not sure. I think I am stumped on this one.

Coastal Celebration arriving at berth 5 - Tsawwassen Terminal - 27 August 2012. I was aboard for the 6:00 PM saing to SWB. They used only the single tone horn at both ends of Active Pass. I gather that it is just one crew that has this issue? photo © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr

C-Cel in Active Pass. - July 2, 2011
Seen from car deck of the Queen of New Westminster. - the video starts with the wimpy 1-tone horn of the C-Cel (why would a bridge crew think that was better sounding than a 3-tone horn?)
