I arrived home from a two week road trip yeserday. I just made the 4pm Coastal Celebration from Tsawwassen. My mom and dad were also on the same boat with their truck and trailer. I was in the last lane to load and was put down on deck 2 along the side. Unloading at Swartz Bay they offloaded from from the side lanes inward. I thought it was odd cause do they not usually unload from the centre outwards?? That would make more sense.

I have notice that between January 7th, 2020 until February 4th, 2020 while the Spirit of British Columbia is getting maintenance that Coastal Renaissance is replacing her. I remember last year that Coastal Celebration replace the Spirit of British Columbia, what made BC Ferries decide to replace Spirit of British Columbia with Coastal Renaissance and not the Coastal Celebration?

I personally think that BC Ferries should use Coastal Celebration of both Spirits replacement due her having the Pacific Buffet.

I personally think that BC Ferries should use Coastal Celebration of both Spirits replacement due her having the Pacific Buffet. If they did switch the C-Cel over to Tsawwassen during the SoBC's refit last year, then they were still one Pacific Buffet short. Because, without the C-Cel available, and with the SoVI being gone for 9 months, then they would have had to use the C-Ren as #1 out of Swartz Bay. I agree though, for this year, and years going forward, it would be good policy to use the C-Cel to replace each Spirit as they are taken out for their respective refits. That is, I understand, just what BCFS has planned.

But if Coastal Celebration is meant to replace both Spirit during there maintenance period. Why is Coastal Renaissance replacing the Spirit of British Columbia? That's a good question. It seems perhaps that the Swartz Bay crews 'own' the C-Cel and they won't let just anyone take it. That seems contrary to what I understand is BCFS's intention re moving vessels around from terminal to terminal to where they can best be utilized. Going back to a very snowy day nine months ago ...

Maybe within the next few years that BC Ferries should add a buffet to Coastal Renascence because she seems to be replace any ship on route 1.

Coastal Celebration has finished her as secondary vessel duty of route 1 out Swartz Bay with her last sailing in March. The Coastal Celebration will be based out of Tsawwassen for route 30 from May 10 until May 25 then will transfer to Duke Point for her new permanent role on route 30.

I am not 100% sure because the reservation page says it happening but she is at Swartz Bay and I haven’t seen Nanaimo Coastal Class vessels use get maintenance done at Departure Bay compared to Swartz Bay.

Coastal Celebration will be sailing on route 1 until June 25, when vessel swap takes places, which I highly doubt will happen with vessel needing to additional sailings to the schedule.

So to get this straight, Coastal Celebration is back on route 1, and may make a switch back to Duke Point with the MV Queen of New Westminster because the MV Queen of Alberni is out for maintenance and refit, and that the switch may not need to happen, and because the 2 other coastals are also out for refit. Did I get that right?

Did I get that right? Queen of Alberni is now back in full service on route 30, Queen of New Westminster will perform route 1 trips this summer. The reservation page says switch will occur on June 20, and none of vessel have been moved yet. Coastal Celebration is supposed to do route 1 sail on Friday and for logistics it seems to make sense for vessel move tomorrow and not Saturday.

I see, so the Coastal Celebration will cover refit relief for Coastal Inspiration on route 30, I am guessing the Coastal Inspiration is out for refit. For the MV Queen of New Westminster business is usual than, returning for summer sailing schedules on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route for the summer travel season.

I am on Coastal Celebration looking around to see if they prepared her for Tsawwassen to Duke Point route, which nothing indicated the switch was occour over weekend everything was opened and said Victoria or Swartz Bay. So, now I think the switch is highly unlikely because I through her would do prepare her for the route during her break or even kept things from on her all ready from her service from Duke Point a couple of weeks ago.

I an pre Covid world they would probably they would also close the pacific buffet as well too, as it is only available on the Tsawwassen to Swartz Bay route.

BC Ferries has decided not to do the vessel swap because the Coastal Celebration is doing additional sailing from Swartz Bay and reservations says the vessel should be Coastal Inspiration and not Coastal Celebration.
