An ailing Coastal Celebration sits out the busy Christmas-New Year holiday period with a visit to Nanaimo's Departure Bay Terminal, an unusual spot for this ship. I gather that it needs a replacement part that has to come from Europe and that it will be a few months before the fix is done.

I think it's time they got rid of the winter Olympics decals. Hasn't it been twelve years now? A horizontal skier doesn't really add anything to the boat's appearance. So they've decided to stop running the ' Celebration around the south end of Saturna. Thankfully this breakdown occurred in the off season, but I imagine it might affect refit schedules.

I don’t mind the nature landscape decals on Coastal Class but I believe the sports one should be replace with animals or parks of British Columbia or due what they did with Salish Class.

Yes indeed those 2010 winter Olympic wraps are way past due for retirement. I recall my brother (Mr DOT) pointing this out frequently in 2011. I can only assume BCFS is seeking to avoid the cost of refinishing those parts of the vessels currently covered up by the decals. They are looking just a bit tired.

Closing in on 'home' at Swartz Bay, in August, last summer ... Coastal Celebration approaches its berth @ Swartz Bay Terminal near the end of a morning run from the mainland.

Why can the coastal Celebration travel at normal speed on the normal route on route #30 but not transit the Active Pass on Route #1

Why can the coastal Celebration travel at normal speed on the normal route on route #30 but not transit the Active Pass on Route #1 The C-Cel currently has a mechanical issue that hampers its ability to safely operate in the constricted waters of Active Pass. Nothing like Active Pass exists on route 30. Others more knowledgeable about this than I could maybe explain the situation better.

Is the CCel running single ended on Route 30? Nope, it doesn't appear to be, according to Marine Traffic track histories, anyways.

Coastal Celebration on the 'high seas' about 10 minutes away from Duke Point Terminal near Nanaimo. She's looking a little weather-beaten & in need of TLC.

Do the coastal class boats have a secondary horn? I noticed this rare sounding sort of double almost triple horn on one of these vessels a few months ago? Is this a feature these vessels have that I was not aware of? Here is the link to one of my videos which, I have set up to start playing right around where this bizzare horn is in the video.

I've seen your video before, I assumed that it was the Queen of New Westminster since the QoNW was departing in the clip prior to that. Sounds a lot like the new west to me.

It sounds like one end sounded its whistle then the other end also sounded its whistle, and the lowest tone cuts out after a second or two. Definitely not the New Westminster, though the two higher tones do sound similar… I also have no idea why they’d sound both ends?
