Thanks for posting that Neil. Always great to see old pamphlets like that. I love how they note the Snack bar being equipped with an Espresso Machine. My oh my, times have changed.
I've been slacking on taking photos lately, but the SOVI has been getting some TLC during her little refit at Swartz Bay. Tugs were brought in yesterday morning to turn her around, so the painters could paint the Starboard side now. There's been about 3 manlifts positioned on the Berth 2/3 float for painting.

The SoVI in refit at SWB, Jan 23 rd, 2011: Images taken around 10:30am: That little outdoor area on deck 5; I've always wondered what it was for. It's inaccessible to the public, and it looks like, with a gate in place, it could be used as a footy access point in the future. Here's that same spot, at about 7pm that night. Void of liferafts and zodiacs: Tearing apart her bow to do some work:

That's where the Swartz Bay foot passenger ramp lands whenever the SOVI has to use berth 2...which has happened occasionally over the years.

There's no gate there to allow the ramp to lower, unless that entire wall swings back like a massive door.

Yes, the entire inner section of that frame slides to one side.

The SOBC used the Spirits outbound route via Swanson Channel, because the SOVI was tied up in Berth 1, so the SOBC docked in Berth 2. This created a great opportunity to take pics of the SOVI head on in Berth 1 tied up. (She only did one round trip in the afternoon departing SB at 2pm, Tsawwassen at 4pm) Great angles; thanks for taking these.

:)taken from stern of the long hbr. boat (Queen of Nanaimo) as brother and I were docked at Stirdes Bay, on our return to Tsawwassen, after a day of Gulf Islands hopping, and a wonderful rememberence of my working days on Queen of Sidney, and Mayne Queen. I can't remember many better days out on deck, all those many years ago. all these ships were relitively new in those late 1960's. :)mrdot.

:)you know my brother may have allready pointed out your shots of Queen of Nanaimo at Sturdies Bay were taken as brother wettcoast was shooting your vessel, and with high definition you might be able to see us on deck, as we were returning to Tsawwassen at the same time as you were, I believe mr. ferryman! mrdot.
