C'Inspiration photos from October 15, 2010: C'Inspy headed up the strait in the morning light. I like the mountain background. With Mt. Garibaldi in right-background: A tale of 2 funnels In the dark at Duke Point at 8:00pm. - oh my, the days are a getting shorter.

Just thought I'd put this out there for people who haven't been on the Inspiration in the last week. Due to a malfunction with her #2 End doors at some point last week, she was rotated 180 degrees and placed #1 end in at Duke Point to get all vehicle traffic off...backwards. Since this happened, the CI has not changed back to her normal position and she most likely won't because I have heard that having her #1 End facing Duke Point is what the crew wanted from the start. This will be an easy adjustment for Route 1 regulars as the #2 End of the C-Cel does face Tsawwassen
For quick reference, her #1 End is the Sitka Coffee Bar/SeaWest Lounge area (Pacific Buffet on the C-Cel), her #2 End is the Coastal Cafe which did face Duke Point up until recently.

Are you sure that her number 1 end hasn't faced Duke Point before? I remember going up to deck 6, sitting in my favorite spot in the Sitka Lounge (Starboard front), and being able to see everything that was coming towards us. Could I be right?

The CI has rotated before, just as the CCell did. Not sure about the CR, though.

You are right in that for 1/2 of the day's sailings, if you sit in the Sitka Lounge, you will be able to see everything that is coming towards you. - exceptions: when it's dark outside. - caveat: "everything that was coming towards us" is not specific to a specific destination. ;D

C'Inspiration photos from November 11, 2010: The Sitka-end is facing Duke Point terminal. This is a change... The empty upper vehicle deck, on the 5:15am sailing on this holiday. More evidence of German construction. - in German grammar, the number-sign is placed after the numeral. C'Inspy leaving Tsawwassen's berth-5, on her 7:45am sailing back to Duke Point. With a faint image of C-Cell in the background: C'Inspy again at Tsawwassen berth 5, ready for her 5:45pm sailing on a cold Autumn evening.

Also, notice in the height-restriction sign, they use a comma instead of a period as the decimal division. The only place this would be done in Canada is Québec, so this is obviously a European touch.

Re the door script: - Luke's old picture of the C-Celebration shows the numeral after the #. Maybe because C-Cell was the last ship built, that by then someone here noticed the non-Canadian way on the other 2 ships, and suggested a change?

For the Coastals (and any other enclosed car deck ferries), do you think that the animal-codes really help the average traveler to easier find their vehicle on the car-deck, or to better find their way around the ship? I always find these silly, but I wonder if the average user finds them helpful or even depends on them?

My mother would be a lost soul without those animals.

I usually remember what staircase I used to go upstairs from the vehicle deck, and magically it leads me back to my family's car. Works every time. ;D

I remember by taking note of where the car is placed, Port, Starboard, Fore, Aft or Mid-ship. It's a system that works for me.

I just remember what elevator or stair the vehicle is placed, and I take note of whether its forward,mid-ship or aft stairs/elevators. It never fails.

A little of both actually. The animal helps me easily find the particular stairway, then it's just a matter of remembering which vehicle deck, as well as which side of the ferry. I've never had a problem, unlike some other people... Like my Mom...

99.9% of the time I just remember where I park, whether in a multilevel parkade/garage, shopping mall, or ferry. The ferry is easy as I usually arrive early and park near the front of the upper deck. And to show you how my brain does or doesn't work , I have more trouble remembering the animal, number or symbol. Every now and then I will remember where I parked last time and go there first, and then have to recompute and go where my car is this time.

The CI is running 27 minutes late( RBI says Mechanical Difficulties with vessel) and is seemingly only able to go a max of 18 knots. I wonder what her problem is?

Enough of an issue that she's being swapped out with the Coastal Renaissance for the remainder of the day.

I notice that the ferries on Route 30 typically operate around 18 knots in normal conditions. It's Route 2 that operates around 20 knots. This was probably an issue that arose early in the morning, but it takes half a day to get a crew and a resting ferry up and into action.

The Renaissance still has not entered the berth at Duke Point for the 3:15 PM sailing... She has been holding off Duke Point for over an hour waiting for the Inspiration to vacate the berth... Late Edit: 4:39 PM - Coastal Inspiration has finally vacated the berth. En route to Departure Bay.

Here the voice of Helga.... - we know that she inhabits all 3 Coastal ships, but I've chosen to put this in the C'Inspy thread.
