Coastal Inspiration is just pulling into Berth 1, Departure Bay after cancelling all of today's sailings from 1515 on.
If she is not fixed overnight, tomorrow might be interesting...

Coastal Inspiration is just pulling into Departure Bay now after cancelling all of today's sailings from 1315 on. If she is not fixed overnight, tomorrow might be interesting... Move the Coastal Renaissance to route 30 and put the Spirit of British Columbia back on route 1.

Rennie route 30 and SOBC back on route 1 would make the most sense if the Inspiration is not fixed overnight but who knows with BC Ferries what they will come up with.

It mostly like to happen that the SOBC goes back on route 1, the Rennie on route 30, or the Queen of New Westminster will be route 30 based out Duke Point.

Interesting news story about the January 14-15 out of service problem with the C'Inspiration. - similar approach scenario as December 2011, but apparently a different cause and a different result. - If this were at Departure Bay or Horseshoe Bay or Tsawwassen, the ship probably would have hit something. For Swartz, it might have been able to do a hard-to-starboard turn towards berth-1? Interesting to consider the luck of this happening at Duke Point, where there is a clear runaway-lane available. I have bolded the part of this story that caught my attention from here: www2.canada.com/nanaimodailynews/news/story.html?id=f77f8d3d-b437-4ee0-a3b2-a767feea6d65

YouTube compilation of various video clips that I shot of MV Coastal Inspiration, from a couple of locations on Gabriola Island. - February 9, 2013.
Malaspina Galleries point has a nice view of the exit from Nanaimo harbour.
Orlebar Point has a super view of Entrance Island and the the shipping lanes for BCF routes 2 & 30 (and Seaspan ferries too).

3 C'Inspirational shots from sunset time at Tsawwassen, on March 3, 2013. I'm at the berth-5 outside "Voyagers Lounge" and the Coastal Inspiration is leaving berth-3, while Queen of Nanaimo is in the strait headed for Tsawwasse and SOVI is in berth-5. Stompin' Tom could have written a song about a "Tsawwassen Saturday Night"..... C'Inspy is large, and Queen of Nanaimo appears small Lovely colours at that time of evening. The C'Inspy's side captures the sunset glow, as she disappears around the rear of SoVI

Two months ago, it was this dark at 6:55am. - this is MV Coastal Inspiration at Duke Point, awaiting her off-season Saturday first sailing of the day (7:45am departure). I am a ways away at Malaspina Galleries point on Gabriola, because being on a windy & dark point of rock beside the ocean is a normal way to spend time in the early morning on a Saturday.....haha Here is my time-exposure view of the ferry with the purpose being to see her all lit up as she is less than 1 hour away from accepting passengers. The ship is alive and getting ready.

Does anyone know why the Renaissance is substituting for the Inspiration today? The Inspiration is sitting at the tie-up berth in Departure Bay.
