Its too bad that it had to be scrapped. I have so many good memories of sailing on that vessel. I used sail it back and forth from my folks cabin on Mayne island in the summertimes. I did read an article that it had a leak in the engine room from the Fiji Sun. I'm not sure in they were referring to the QPR or the QON though. Goundar has named his ships too many "LOMAIVITI PRINCESS(ES)". If I was running that outfit, I would not have "demoted the three BCF queens into princesses". Major shipsQUEEN OF PRINCE RUPERT: QUEEN OF FIJIQUEEN OF CHILLIWACK: QUEEN OF SUVAQUEEN OF NANAIMO: QUEEN OF SAVUSAVUAnd then ... My opinion. Meanwhile, the NANAIMO is now about halfway between the Town of Thursday Island and Timor Lest as of the time of this posting.

Yeah, its kind of weird how he named them all Lomaiviti Princess 1,2,3,4,5,etc. Queen of Suva sounds much more fitting as well as Fiji, and Savusavu.

THU 2022-04-28 0001PDT As of the above timestamp, the NANAIMO had the town of Tutuala of Timor Lest off her port side. She's now about two thirds into her voyage from Suva to Singapore. Next posting in a few or several days from now.

FRI 2022-05-06 1201PDT It looks like the NANAIMO is now anchored east and outside of Singapore. That blip of interest been there for about a couple of days now. Just look at the traffic jam of ships in this area! Could it be worse than a Los Angeles freeway? I guess she has to wait for service.

WED 2022-05-11 0001PDT The QUEEN OF NANAIMO (LP5) has passed Singapore and is heading for her final resting place. It's interesting to note that she had the community of "Little India" off her starboard side a short time ago. My next plot posting is planned to be displayed on this page in about a couple of weeks from now when she nears Alang.

THU 2022-05-26 0001PDT The QUEEN OF NANAIMO (LP5) is now nearing her final destination, Alang India. 2022-05-21 0001PDT, she rounded the south tip of Sri Lanka. During her voyage, she dropped the hook at a location south of Papua New Guinea, various spots east of Singapore, and Pangkalan Brandan. My guess is that she may arrive on the scene off the shores of Alang sometime today PDT.

Are there any photos or videos of Queen of Nanaimo arriving in India? Someone took a pic of the MV TAKU as she landed on the beach there. And, another took a video of her. See the TAKU pages in this Forum. There are a couple of pics of the QUEEN OF VICTORIA at Alang. Check her thread if they still are viewable. Hopefully there would be someone there to take a pic of the NANAIMO.

FRI 2022-05-27 1611PDT The NANAIMO has dropped her hook for, might likely, the last time before beaching. I guess she's waiting for customs/pilot/yard personnel staff to come out and greet her captain and crew.

I guess she's waiting for customs/pilot/yard personnel staff to come out and greet her captain and crew. FNS: When the data just says 'passenger vessel', how do you sort out the one you want from all the others? Thanks for asking. After the NANAIMO departed Fiji, I have been watching her blip every three to six hours ("print screen" capturing the locations and time stamping them in the MS Paint program). Sometimes it shows info and others generic. The blip with info stays up for many hours after loss of data from the ship (it replaces the generic blip once info is received). SAT 2022-05-28 0931PDT This ends up being at least the second to the last spot where she dropped her hook. This is the "receptionist" area where ships check in. SAT 2022-05-28 1531PDT She moved to her "aiming" spot SAT 2022-05-28 1615PDT This is most likely where she dropped her hook for the last time before beaching. At her "aiming" spot. That info blip of her stays up for hours after LOS. The TAKU did the same thing upon arriving Alang.

SUN 2022-05-29 0321PDT Well, so much for the aiming for the shore at Alang. She was spotted 20 minutes past midnight having weighed anchor again. It looks like they changed their minds and moved to Bhavnagar. Maybe the shores there might be better for the slow landing of the NANAIMO. As some of you know, she sailed with only one working drive of her two. Very lucky she arrived in India and safely for her crew. No more predictions on how many times she'll weigh and drop her hook the rest of this voyage. The time differences between our time and theirs (New Delhi) is 12.5 hours. So, this brave ship has ventured out on the various seas half a globe from her home in BC. And, using her own power! She was spotted earlier in the evening Saturday PDT with a "Tug/Special Craft" along her side.

So, she will not be scrapped at Alang? That's interesting. The news reports in Fiji were pretty clear in saying she will be scrapped in India. Recently, some photos of the Nanaimo surfaced on Facebook, in the “BC Coastal Mariner’s” facebook page. They show a water hose hooked up to the ship and a small amount of provisions being brought on for the crew. They still have to clear customs and immigration, and receive a health clearance in order to proceed to the breakers. Yes, even for a scrap voyage. As with any industry that engages in international trade, there are always hoops to jump through, including taxes/penalties/bribes to avoid delays or further grief….
