[/IMG]
When was the last time that both of the true B's were in sight of each other? Did the QoNW pass when they were in sight, so we can say all three B's could've seen each other? That would've been pretty historic. So, before this, when was the last time that both (or all three, depending on how you think about it, and if she was even there) were in sight of each other?

I'm almost pretty certain that its been a lot sooner than that since the Nanaimo and Burnaby "saw" each other.
I can recall a time in 2003/2004, when there was quite an issue with the lack of vessels for Route 1. I think it was the Queen of Vancouver that broke down, and the New Westminster was out for refit at the time (somewhere along those lines...). Anyways, the Queen of Burnaby was actually brought down from Comox to serve on Route 1 to help pick up the slack, and the Queen of Tsawwassen would have also been sent up to Comox. I'm sure there would have been instances where the Nanaimo and Burnaby passed each other, maybe even in Active Pass. Just none of us captured any photos of it. But, I do recall member "Airchime" posting a photo of the Queen of Burnaby in the old Berth 2 at Tsawwassen, with the Queen of Vancouver in Berth 1.

Do you think they'd still do something like that if it occurred in this decade? That would be interesting, being on the Queen of Burnaby on route 1. The last time a ferry with a single vehicle deck working on route 1 regularly would've been decades ago. Does anyone know which ship and when was the last single car deck ferry to operate rt1?

I think you're correct Kam. That would have made it 2003. I remember traveling on the Tsawwassen route and passing the Burnaby in Active Pass and going back to Swartz Bay the following day and seeing her load and leave from Berth 1. Now I wish I had pictures to share.

I was thinking its boaters like this person that we can thank for boating licences and trust me I don't think that will help that much either. I will admit it gives a nice view of the Nanaimo though.

That would be fun actually to have a boat and get different views like that of the ferries.

"...but wait, there's an additional clip attached to the video."
Is it going to cost us 99 cents, instead of $1.99?

That would be fun actually to have a boat and get different views like that of the ferries. I got a VERY close view of the M/V Taku (AMHS, one of our Spauldings) coming up Neva Strait. I was, er... probably heading home a bit to fast, and she DID warn me over VHF, but I was sure she was talking to another unidentified small craft. Came around out of St. Johns, and there she was, in all her glory, and I was the idiot in the channel in front of her. Man, she was beautiful, but man, I don't ever want to see her that close while under way again. About a month later, I was in her forward observation lounge going down the Wrangell Narrows (something like 60 aids to navigation in 22 miles) when I saw someone fishing in a lund in the middle of the channel. Taku blew her horn, and the two fishermen were unable to get their engine started. I have never seen such frantic rowing in my life. I'm guessing they got a magnificent view as well.

Queen of Nanaimo leaving Tsawwassen on December 28th, 2010: Apparently, Ferryman is closing the bow doors here. Queen of Nanaimo and SoVI in Active Pass. Right after she sounded her horn. Approaching Village Bay. Queen of Nanaimo with Mayne Queen at Village Bay on the evening of December 29th. This photo was lightened slightly to increase visible detail.

Yup, I was standing starboard side close to the bow on deck 5. You can see me standing there in a close up shot that Ferryman has posted. Shortly after, I shot this: This is from this morning:
