Thanks so much for getting those shots, Scott...she sure looks spiffy! Probably the nicest she'll ever look for the rest of her remaining service life. I'm looking forward to taking a trip on her in the New Year to get a close up look before the rust starts reappearing.

Yes, the Queen of Burnaby's recent refit included work to improve the elevator.
Yes, the elevator broke down today, on it's first day in service.

Here are some photos I'm sure most of you were curious to see. Some post refit photos of the Burnaby taken today and yesterday. Little River: Onboard: The outer decks were completely repainted, and the smoking area was unfortunately moved to the port side prom deck, midships. The banner on the railing at the bow was missing for a few years. It has now been replaced by a new one. Somone has taken the time to repaint the Coat of Arms, and has done a beautiful job! Now we move down to the car deck. There wasn't a lot of painting done here. They've only painted about halfway up the bulkheads similar to what was done with the Queen of Nanaimo last year. They also didn't get rid of the sidewalks that follow the center casing, like they did on the Nanaimo which was a surprise to me. The car deck lighting was also improved durastically though. Overall I was pretty impressed with the Queen of Burnaby's $12 million refit. She actually puts the Queen of Nanaimo to shame for now too. But they never did bother to repair the horn, with its lack of a bass note. Interior wise: Nothing was really done here. The carpets were cleaned (on both Decks 4 and 5). Some interior bulkheads saw a fresh lick of paint, including inside the wheelhouse which is no longer lime green and is now similar to the New West being that it's white now. However, Deck 5 still remains the same with its memories of the Royal Victorian/PM III days.

WOW! She looks almost like she's changed race, she's so white! With the lack of a bass note on her whistle, we might have a true Michael Jackson on our hands... Where was the smoking area prior to the refit? Same as the Nanaimo? I like how they have the ashtrays in the middle of the deck to clearly identify the space. Her paint job seems to reflect the light off the ceiling. I like it. That long silver faux-life jacket locker: Was it there prior to the refit? Now there's a nice show of shiply patriotism! I think someone giving you a challenge, Ferryman. Let's see that Coat of Arms on the Nanny done by next summer. I suppose they fixed the asbestos issues?

I think someone giving you a challenge, Ferryman. Let's see that Coat of Arms on the Nanny done by next summer. I suppose they fixed the asbestos issues? To answer your questions: First off, the Smoking area on the Burnaby used to be on Deck 5, Starboard side right beside the Aft Lounge. On the Nanaimo it's currently Deck 5 on the Port side, right beside the Aft Lounge. Re: the silver faux life jacket lockers on Deck 5. Yes, those were there pre refit, and have been there for a number of years now. They're actually a removable casing that shelters the ventilation tunnels for the Cafeteria. The Coat of Arms would be a serious challenge that I'd like to take on. But with the ship on the run, it's obviously not easy to do. It would be nice to be able to bring it down temporarily for restoration. Maybe one day Also, yes the Asbestos issue has been dealt with. It was dealt with immediately last year when the issue first came to light. Alright, what else?

From on-board: Her cafeteria still shows remnants of her Royal Victorian days: What exactly are the remnants of her Royal Victorian days that you're referring to? Great pictures by the way.

Oh, well then I'm mistaken! I was pretty sure it had been there during it's RV days. Guess not!
I like it, though. Adds a touch of class.

Probably elsewhere too on other ships, but that's what comes to mind first.

I'm giving a bit of a Live Service Notice right now cause as it turns out, I'm caught up in it.
The Burnaby is down right now cause of prop issues and has cancelled the 3:15 round trip. At the moment that's basically all I know.
Kind of a shame actually, it was such a nice day up till then.
