I saw that on their website, briefly, as well. And just this last week, there was yet another Marine Traffic 'sighting' of the Queen of Burnaby in Howe Sound. Maybe there's a parallel universe that sometimes intersects with our own, where ferries aren't bound by the natural laws that we're familiar with. Thats a joke right, I mean I think I may have seen the Queen of Richmond while my dad was taking me for a drive over the Alex Fraser Bridge. You probably did. It's a poorly kept secret among us amateur physicists that the Alex Fraser Bridge crosses a portal into the parallel universe. Keep your eyes open next time and you might see Kalakala steaming up the Fraser.

BC Ferries' Queen of Oak Bay has just exited Horseshoe Bay on its route across Georgia Strait to Nanaimo - 31 July 2020 Last time I was aboard one of the ferries was back in December. One of these days I will get another chance. Click here for a full res version of this photo so you can check on the state of 'social distancing' of the passengers on the outer decks.

Winds have picked up in Departure Bay and in the Strait late this morning. The Oak Bay is on its way in to Departure Bay, but her path is an unusual zigzaggy one. She overshot Departure Bay (from my point of view) and then turned sharply south to head back down toward the bay. Now she's gone past the mouth of the bay and is out of sight behind Newcastle Island. Is the Oak Bay particularly bothered by strong side-on winds?

Nutmeggd by the Queen of Oak Bay this morning! I was shooting a place on Bowen Island, and wanted to film her heading back to Nanaimo, passing by the property. Instead, she took the route going around the other side of Bowen Island.

Nice pic, but I've never liked the OB or Surrey from an appearance standpoint. Ugly as sin.

We could debate whether or not the Queen of Oak Bay is a beauty ... Nice pic, but I've never liked the OB or Surrey from an appearance standpoint. Ugly as sin. I would not say "Ugly as sin", but definitely not as nice lines as their older sisters ...

We could debate whether or not the Queen of Oak Bay is a beauty ... But there would be no debate re the natural beauty of the waters that it sails in. Nice pic, but I've never liked the OB or Surrey from an appearance standpoint. Ugly as sin. Controversial opinion time, I like Queen of Oak Bay and Queen of Surrey design better because the gave more clean looking without pickle forks.

Queen of Oak Bay will be making an extremely rare appearance at Langdale for two boat service while berth 1 gets maintenance done from April 24 to 28. www.bcferries.com/news-releases/temporary-langdale-berth-closureHow often has Queen of Oak Bay been on route 3? Why could they just put Queen of Coquitlam on the route with Queen of Surrey?

How often has Queen of Oak Bay been on route 3? Why could they just put Queen of Coquitlam on the route with Queen of Surrey? Rare. Apparently the Langdale passengers have a specific attachment to Queen of Surrey.

I’m assuming because the Queen of Coquitlam is going to be based out of Departure Bay while serving as the second boat on route 2, Horseshoe Bay doesn’t have enough staff available to crew a second C class and Departure Bay crew isn’t trained on the Queen of Oak Bay

So there’s no room for two C-Class to tie up in Horseshoe Bay

Rare. Apparently the Langdale passengers have a specific attachment to Queen of Surrey. You have no idea how attached those Langdale people are to the Queen of Surrey. Care to make a guess why?

Dunno why but this is definitely true; first-hand experience with the C.S. on the Coquitlam last night who balked at the idea of not having the Surrey back for ten whole days LOL.

The answer: usb charging ports Queen of Surrey has lots of them spaced around in the passenger lounges whereas the other Queens don't. Oak Bay was supposed to get them too, but those were the plans before pandemic
