Thank's Ferry, um, person (I avoid insulting).
If someone here has 1.5 million, we can get it back to where it belongs.
Also looks like they eliminated the platform decks, as the car capacity is now 286.

I hate to burst both of your bubbles....but...if you go back to page 3, something will suprise you...but here it is, seeming everybody is too lazy to click on a mouse, and read back a few pages.... That website saying that the Victoria is for sale, is very old (2003), and has been de-listed. She actually no longer exists, as she was taken across the Atlantic Ocean, from the Domican Republic, to the Alang Shipbreakers. She was then beached on to the shore, and labourers would take her apart, piece by piece, with cutting torches. This was one of the last pictures of the Victoria....

You are so true Chris, I posted another pic of the Vic from the starboard and in fact, she is likely no more as of today. Unfortunately, the remainder of the V class and like the B class may meet a similar fate, as I am sure noone is willing to preserve a fleet of aged vessels, with the cost involved to maintain them (Museum or otherwise). One, maybe (Tsawwassen) as she carries far more significance, being one of the first two for BC Ferries, but at that, it's a stretch. Better go check my lottery numbers, hit it big and I am willing to make a sizeable donation...

Does anyone know how the Queen of Victoria was repaired after her active pass collision in 1970? Did the cut her apart again and ad a new mid section? Was there any scars or anything else leftover after she was repaired (weld marks etc)

hahahaha are you serious? You mean you actually think that's another ship? I'm baffled, I can't beleive there are people on this forum that can't make a conection between a photo of the Queen of Victoria at Alang and the Queen of Victoria. The Spaulding design of the V Class was extremely unique, and there is nothing else like it in the world, so unless there was this secret "8th Sister" build somehwhere this is the Queen of Victoria...THIS IS THE QUEEN OF VICTORIA.

I remember going over this (in this thread I believe) that there were some details in the Alang picture that definatly confirmed her as the Victoria.

CAUSE IT'S BEEN MODIFIED. There was a record of it somewhere that confirmed that the bow had been modified. Even so, who cares about the bow, it's the whole ship, and it looks identical.

i dont beleave it. and i really hope in the near future that we can eliminate the guest thing. its annoying when users will post under a guest name so that they can aleviate the backlash at themselves.

Well, I "beleave" it.......
I like the guest's idea about the mysterious "8th sister".....the so-called "Queen of Bountiful", or whatever.
Somewhere out there lurks the mysterious 8th sister, only spoken about in whispers by those in the know.....
If you read the 1963 Hansard documents backwards, you will see the answer.
ps: I think this particular guest has made good points, and I don't think she/he is hiding from backlash. Although a group of ferry-nerds can be quite intimidating...

Was there any scars or anything else leftover after she was repaired (weld marks etc) The following two pages from an album in the DOT collection sheds more light on the Q of Victoria accident, and what was done afterward to get her back into service.

I like how the "before shot" is the Burnaby, New West, or Nanaimo.

That sure was the Accident imagine what it would be like being aboard at the time I like how the "before shot" is the Burnaby, New West, or Nanaimo. Looking at that photo. That could be any of the ferries at the time how many ferries were streched at the time. I think it was just the Esq and the Vic

Look at the funnel. It has nothing around the base, which is a feature of those three boats.

I think it still is a V Class. the black and white just makes it difficult to figure out if it has the base or not

I scanned those pages from my brother's BCF history album. The picture of a 'B' just happened to be on that page. (He does not believe in leaving a vacant spot on any page.) It has nothing at all to do with the accompanying article.
So from here on focus ot the Q of Victoria, and not on that misplaced 'B' picture. Is it not remarkable that they had her back in sevice in under one month?
And PR Ferries Teen, you are right, only two vessels had been stretched at that time - just the Vic & Esq.
