Sure looks like the Queen of Victoria to me.

lets do some research, and see if the design was ever copied, could this be a copied one?

You never know, could be the long lost Queen of Richmond.
Seriously though, the sad truth is that it matches every look of the Vic. Plus it's called Ocoa, since that was what she was renamed when she was sold it's probably her.

Oh for heaven's sake. What are you waiting for, a close-up of the bite mark from the Sergei Yesenin? It has the big ol' knot of house under the stack, everything is there. All the pieces fit together. It is the Victoria. I know it's a drag to have to admit it, but ferries die, just like people. Some go suddenly in a blaze of glory, some get consigned to a backwater to slowly decay into oblivion, a few drown. Though I haven't worked up a good metaphor for scrapping yet.

Nicely said, Barnacle. I guess I have to bring this picture up again that I made nearly a year ago......

Thanks Chris,
I was thinking somebody should do that. That really makes it clear.
Does anybody know what her life was like the past few years. I know she was up for sale again a few years ago, but how did she end at the shipbreakers in India?

Well, I'm going to try and pull some stings through work and see if I can get in touch with the AFP photographer (Emmanuel Dunand) that took the original photo. (I work in the Media and may have a better chance of this fellow getting back to me through the Canadian news agency BN)
My hope is he took other pictures of her while he was on the beach.
Might take a while, but I’ll keep the group updated.

Assuming she was broken up, I also wonder how much her scrap value was. In fact, I wonder what the scrap value is of any of the ships to be retired over the next few years (the V-class ships, and QPR).

So what you're saying is there are other ships out there that just happen to be identical to a V Class??

Man, What do some of us need? A mallet engraved with "Ocoa scrapped" banged over our head a few times?? This topic has been assualted far worse than a dead horse. I do not think a closeup of a name is necessary, nor did ANY photographer get a closeup of the name in anticipation of such a futile debate on this site Fact is, look at the ship!!! It has so many identical features as the Victoria from the promenade deck up. R&G simply made modifications after purchase to suit their needs and NOONE saw it necessary to get closeup photos of the ship (Again for the same reason?) Let's face it, the Vic is gone, fact of life. Rode her many times (Even got into the wheelhouse once) and have my own thoughts to reflect on. To sit here and debate her existence is futile. That picture speaks volumes and it does not look doctered. Let's try to put this behind and accept her demise...I did a long time ago....

It's highly unlikely that a photo clear enough to see the name exists... frankly, in Alang, they're more interested in getting the work done to keep the rights to their patch than taking pictures of the deceased. That having been said, it's a short name in the photo, about four or five letters, and well, let's face it... we can account for the Coho.

That ship is in all likelihood not the Queen of Victoria. It is, almost certainly the fabled 8th sister that was to have been named the Queen of Richmond. It never entered service as it was used instead as the Bennett family yacht.
This is my 2-cents worth on this subject.

I thought that the Queen of Richmond was transferred to the Doman brothers, as part of some sort of securities-trading deal ?

It is definitely the Victoria. Remember that the Victoria's passenger deck had been modified from the original design by the means of: - stretching the deck
- addition of a full beam enclosed area at the stern
- addition of solariums on upper deck
- extension of upper passenger deck stern.
The vessel in this picture appears to have all of the above listed. Also prove how the funnel wears the exact same colours as it had before it was sold, minus the dogwood.

how about another example, i can show you photos of a vessel that looks like the royal vancouver being cut in a scrap yard, but you can say for a fact that even though they are exact, they are NOT the Royal Vancouver, even though you have no IDEA where she is...dont say dead until you show me records that prove a vessel similar to the victoria was NEVER built

But was the Royal Vancouver modified such as the Victoria? Was the original designer based globally?

Oh come on now for God sake.........
Philip Spaulding had the copyright to the V class design and it was bought by BC Ferries for a VERY good price I believe.
Lets get REAL here people..... do you see ANY passenger/car ferries on the world market that resemble a nearly IDENTICAL design as Philip Spaudlings ships???!!!! I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!!
This ship at Alang is the Victoria and instead of members asking for proof of her demise, I challenge you certain members to prove her EXISTENCE. I for one believe truly that she was broken at Alang and nothing can be done to change that. PROVE ME WRONG..............
Sorry to be the pessimist, but some pictures tell many tales..........

St. Mike of Horn....... Someone else's belief seems to be dragging this thread into an undetermined end! I say get the proof that she still exists (OUTSIDE ALANG) and I will most humbly devour a helping of crow.......... BTW, I have neither the time or money to go to Alang to personally get pictures for myself..........and if I did, it would probably be a pic of the stern end succumbing to a blow torch.....(If not done already)
