Update BC Ferries is Unveiling the Salish Heron's Artwork on November 29th at 10:20 AM on Youtube, I'll be watching live but just thought the forum should know. A side note is whether they will apply the art in BC or if they will do it at Rementowa Shipyards.

The Salish Heron artwork is beautiful. I think this is my favourite artwork of the 4 ships in this class. Here are 2 screenshots from this morning's unveiling livestream: I like the design choice. Is BC Ferries now putting on the number of specific vessels in each class on all vessels now? It’s like BC Ferries is planning on Spring 2022 enter into service with her. Found here.

While all of the art designs for the Salish class vessels are very unique, Mr. Johnny has hit it out of the park with his design!

I agree. The proof will come when it is sailing in our local waters in ~6 months.

I have nothing new to ad, but, fantastic design! I like them all but the colour and flow on this work very well for me. Excited to see it in service!

BC Ferries says the new Salish is identical to the three already in service. They say this twice. But I am wondering if there are actually a few tweaks applied to the new one?
I am thinking about those alarming doors that allow you to pass so slowly between outer decks and cabin interiors. I hope they are going with something less cumbersome ...

Seems like a good time to give Salish Heron its own thread. It's here now, so let the discussion and photos commence.

The paintings on the side of Salish Heron are completed Technically speaking, they are decals (3M supergraphics ?), not paintings.

[/div][/quote] I was on the Coastal Celebration today at Tsawwassen and the Heron was out doing training or whatever. It sure sounds like the doors are the same, I could hear the beeping from several ship lengths away. The decals, which look good in pictures and renders look even better in person! Sharp looking boat.

I moved all recent posts regarding Salish Heron into the Salish Heron thread, now that we actually have a thread for this new vessel.

Sharp looking boat. The Heron is equipped with Bohamet doors, version 2, and are apparently better overall compared to version 1 on Salish 1-3. It’ll be interesting to see the differences of a second generation vessel of the same class, something that hasn’t been achieved in decades (C-Class?), aside from the Island Class. Different from the Island class in the sense that this is a 2022 model compared to a 2016/7 model…

Hopefully a sign of things to come!

Salish Heron will be on route 9 in summer along with Salish Raven and Salish Eagle. Wouldn't one of those be on Route 5, along with Queen of Cumberland?

That what it does say on reservation page and some sailing require to transfer between two of these vessels. Maybe in service crew training on Salish Class vessels for Swartz Bay crew. Salish Heron will be on route 9 in summer along with Salish Raven and Salish Eagle. Wouldn't one of those be on Route 5, along with Queen of Cumberland? I truly loved that BC Ferries would do that.

I found that three Salish Class will be on route 9, Salish Eagle based out Long Harbour while Salish Raven, Salish Heron will be based out of Tsawwassen this according to the reservation page.

There won’t be 3 Salish on route 9. One is going to route 5. I heard the Raven but it could be any Salish so that leaves two for route 9 cause the other Salish is on the Powell River run.

This is scheduled from reversation page from Tsawwassen to Sturdies Bay for Sunday July 17. 7:00 am on board Salish Raven, transfer at Village Bay Salish Heron.9:10 am on board Salish Eagle.10:25 am on board Salish Raven.4:35 pm on board Salish Eagle. 5:45 pm on board Salish Heron. So all three are on route 9.

I've got a reservation on Salish Raven for Saturday, July 23, leaving Otter Bay at 08:30, arriving Tsawwassen at 10:11. Got an AirBnb on South Pender for two nights. This will be my first trip to Canada in nearly 3 years. We'll be coming up on Coho prior to the Pender stay - just booked that passage, as well. It will be nice seeing Salish Heron, whether on Route 9 or 5. Didn't think I would get to see the new ship based on previous discussions about delaying her entry to service due to staffing issues.

Nice so BC Ferries can crew a second Salish out of Tsawwassen but can’t crew a Salish out of Swartz Bay. That’s bull sorry I’m a little annoyed at that cause we were suppose to have a Salish on route 5 starting in spring. But now who knows when that will happen.

I don't really know what people are talking about, although I haven't looked in depth at the summer schedules. BC Ferries has two vessels based at Swartz Bay for the summer, for route five. They are not going to have three on route nine. A glitch, to be corrected, or maybe they are alternating a couple of vessels? Tsawwassen has two berths allotted to route one in summer, one for route thirty, and on for route nine. A second Salish class would take the fifth, which would leave none for contingencies. Karl, crewing deficiencies are so pronounced these days that I can see them being able to run the Mayne Queen out of Swartz Bay, but not a Salish class boat.
