I understand the crewing issues but they are swapping ships so I would assume the Cumberland crew would be on the Salish plus a few more crew so it shouldn’t be too hard cause I think the Mayne Queen crew would go to the Cumberland if I’m correct?? Or is the Cumberland crew going to be on the Cumberland when she takes over for the Mayne being it’s pretty much the same route.

I guess BC Ferries decide not put on SC4 on side of Salish Heron, I am glad because it is ugly.

The vessel operates very early in the morning to late at night 7 days per week. So if the vessel needs 3 more crew members than the Cumberland (this is just for example), then BC ferries would need to hire a few times that amount to cover all the shifts. That’s where crewing gets tough

Assuming they haven't updated this in error, the Salish Heron is scheduled to have her first departure with passengers onboard tomorrow afternoon at 2:25 down to Salt Spring and back. Guess we'll see about that!

Guess we'll see about that! Well, seeing as how the Salish Raven has been moved back over to Deas, I would say that the Salish Heron is indeed running on Route 9a effective tomorrow

Is today the Inaugural Sailing for the Salish Heron on Route 9 from the Mainland?
If anyone is partaking in this Special Day can you send some pictures along. Any refinements over the other 3 Sisterships?
Thank you!

Any refinements over the other 3 Sisterships? Thank you! Sadly I miss this special day, because of the last minute announcement of the day it was entering service. But I do plan to be there for Mayne Queen's last day, whenever that is.

BC Ferries says the new Salish is identical to the three already in service. They say this twice. But I am wondering if there are actually a few tweaks applied to the new one?
I am thinking about those alarming doors that allow you to pass so slowly between outer decks and cabin interiors. I hope they are going with something less cumbersome ...
Onboard the Heron as we speak, and can confirm that the door mechanisms in all areas of the vessel are improved greatly (photos to follow later). The Sun Deck Doors appear far less overweight looking, are thinner, only beep once when the button is pressed and are extremely quick to open. Definitely a serious improvement overall, looking forward to sharing more.

Got up to take Salish Heron's second Sunday round-trip out of Tsawwassen at 1715 to Salt Spring and Galiano Island. The outbound sailing was about half full, with most of the traffic heading to Salt Spring. Ended up returning to Vancouver pretty full with Salt Spring traffic on Deck 2 and all remaining traffic on Deck 3. The boat overall is extremely nice, featuring different textured seating, improved outdoor doors (as previously mentioned) and minor signage changes that feels improved to me. Hope you enjoy shots from the trip and the Heron is definitely worth a check out.

I am glad they didn’t go head with SC4 on her because it ugly and unnecessary. I wonder how long she will stay in this good condition because I have found that vessels are not getting taken care of how they where before.

Big Spook may well say "Get outta my parking spot, kid!"

The Salish Heron definitely wins the 'Salish-class' artwork design comparison!

I would agree with others, this one has the most pleasing First Nations artwork of the four Salish class vessels ...

I got a chance to ride on Salish Heron 2 Saturdays ago from Otter Bay to Tsawwassen. Here are my pics of the newest vessel: Salish Heron at Otter Bay Salish Heron approaching Otter Bay Got front spot (the blue car). Alas, not enough traffic to warrant parking down on the lower level

Got the see the Salish Heron in-person for the first time - we followed the ship through Active Pass on the Mayne Queen. I would have to agree with the consensus that this is the best looking of the Salish Class to date. The wrap looks great!

I have been on Salish Heron twice once to Village Bay and Sturdies Bay, I have found that her doors are way better compared to her sister. I like personally her wrap is best so far on any other vessel. I am posting these photos because we don’t have many photos of her. Newest of the Salish class, the Heron, passes through the narrows at the north end of Active Pass, en route to Mayne & Pender Islands. This view is from Bellhouse Park, Galiano. 13 August 2022
