Sea/Brem - Chimacum Delay - Correction The #2 vessel Chimacum departed Seattle 9 min. behind schedule to due vessel speed restrictions. This delay impacts the 10:00am departure from Seattle and possibly the 11:10am departure from Bremerton. Updates will be provided as conditions change. I've noticed that the Chimacum has been running on half power or at reduced speed quite frequently as of late. The Issaquah class vessels seem a little faster then the Olympics, By the way the Kitsap should be replacing the Chimacum soon, and being the #2 boat

They been upgrading alot of the boats with 5 bladed props so idk if she actually got a 5 bladed prop yet She has, and that is why she has been vibrating so much. I have been told that she is going to have the five blade propeller replaced with a four blade while she's out for maintenance. This is what I was talking about

At the request of a few individuals, the following are videos that were taken onboard the QPR during her final months serving on routes 10 and 11. These particular videos were taken during a four day trip that a few members did back in late October 2008. I am sure others will have more to add to this topic in the near future... A quick tour of the Engine Room...Her Mirrlees in action...Sailing in Millbank Sound...QPR's seasick horn...Photobucket will not work for me, why?

Am I the only one that when you were heading to Kingston, and you go to the back of the ship(End no.2), it made sounds like a steam locomotive

They haven't changed the Walla Walla's whistle, either. But for some reason the last time I was aboard they had one note out of two shut off, possibly for maintenance. It's mostly noticeable because (1) well, it's a single note instead of two, which is the "trademark" sound of the whistle, and (2) it's a different note on each end. I have heard the Big W's whistles recently. The End #1 (West End) whistle being used at this time is the higher pitched and End #2 (East End) is the lower pitch.
With the bass note turned off, there seems to be more air coming into the higher pitch whistle at End #1 and it sounds more like the VASHON's whistles (she had one at each end of her funnel with identical sounds).
Ah, the sweet sound of the late MV VASHON is back on Puget Sound for a little awhile.
So apparently the End no.1 is it's orginal sound now, I did not know that is this true

When will the new final long range plan be released? I know that the legislature is waiting for its release before dedicating funding for a new Olympic class boat. What major changes do we expect to see from the plan from last decade of any? i believe it is in 2019

Saw Puyallup heading toward Anacortes on the ship tracker earlier today...didn’t know it was due for service (I thought the W2 was going out instead). Looks like it’ll be 2 Jumbos in Edmonds for a while. Yes, you are correct, The Spokane came back into service for the 3:55 sailing to Kingston, and replaced the Puyallup, the Puyallup is now doiong sea trials in the Islands before going into Eagle harbor for maintenance, plus they did a new paint job so she looks Extremely nice, and End no.1 whistle sounds the same
