Talking about schedules why on some days does the route 1 schedules say different crossing times?? Sometimes it says 1hr 15min-1hr 35min other days it says 1hr 20min up as long as 2hr 10mins which route 1 has never taken over 2 hours so I don’t get those crossing times! Anyone know?

I have tracked it on Siitech and it’s still about 30 mins. I wondered the same thing why it’s listed at 20 mins! I don’t like the new schedules to be honest.

Has anyone seen the new live Fulford Ferry Cam??? The link is here saltspringexchange.com/cams/fulford-terminal/ I sometimes watch it as I like to see the comings and goings at Fulford Harbour. And you can get a view of the ship too in the Berth. If you check out the other cams there is one at Vesuvius too but no ferry view for that one.

I have noticed on the Gulf Island schedules for Sunday nights after the Cumberland arrives at 9:30pm from Sturdies Bay she does another round trip to Pender at 9:40pm. I am wondering if this is a Covid related change?? Because usually the Sunday night sailing from Village Bay and Sturdies Bay on the Cumberland would usually stop at Otter Bay before finishing up the night at Swartz Bay. Anyone know the reason for this??

The Raven is sitting at Tsawwassen. They should put her into service on route 5 maybe pull the Cumberland and fix her issues. Would that not make sense?

So I take it that this will be the Coquitlam doing these sailings as it looks to me like it is gonna be a triangle run again with trip to Horseshoe Bay two round trips to Langdale then back to Nanaimo. I guess they are not gonna use the Renaissance all summer??

Coastal Celebration is also running a few trips in a week or so according to this schedule. I would love to see the Raven on route 5 this summer instead of her sitting idle. They could use the Mayne Queen as a relief ship this summer. I wonder if route 2 will see the Renaissance this summer or just the two c class?? I was on the SOVI and SOBC yesterday and I will say that vehicle traffic is starting to increase and both ways were almost full for vehicles. I think going over was full and coming back was about 70% Regular White Spot Burgers and Fries and Chicken Strips in Cafeteria. No Fountain Drinks or Self Serve Coffee or anything like that. They do not have the cups and trays either at the moment. Vending Machines were full and stocked and available. BC Ferries doing a great job and sanitizing and cleaning. Sanitizers around the ships. Kiosks at the terminals once you touch the screen the first screen that appears is the screen with the questions for Covid. People seem to Social Distance and there are markers and signs everywhere on seats and tables and taped off areas. Arbutus Deck 6 lounge both ways was open just that section as it was busier being a Sunday. I felt very safe it was a bit weird I will admit but I loved the messages on the windows on the SOBC for all the frontline workers that was really cool the crew did a awesome job at that. Just thought I would mention some of the things I noticed.

BC Ferries told me if people can’t wear them for any reason they won’t make them wear them but I think you have to have one with you. I was also told if in vehicles you don’t need them but you should have them with you if you don’t have one you might not be able to board. My question is what about the northern routes?? That’s a long time to be wearing a mask I can barley wear one for 30 mins I guess I’ll have to soon if I’m on the ferry.

Was that the only area blocked off on the Capilano?? I’m sure curious to see what route 1 is like!

I sure hope they don't eliminate the Pacific Buffet. I am sure they can limit the number of people in there at a time and maybe even have like menus or something so you can order the same food off a menu and have servers actually serve you but I do not know how well that would actually work. I guess it would not be called a Buffet then. I have been messaging BC Ferries on Facebook and they hope to have somewhat normal service this summer so I am hoping there might be even limited food service. They might just have to limit the number and people in the Cafeteria and just have different protocols to follow. Maybe just plastic cutlery. If Resturants are going to be opening I am sure BC Ferries can figure something out.
Is there not a way BC Ferries could of kept limited food service on the Northern runs through this whole Covid situation?? I mean I just think 24 hours on a boat is a long time for no food service. I am sure it's not busy so I think social distancing would not be an issue on that boat if it was just like locals using the service.

I have a feeling the New West might not even be running this summer due to the Pandemic. I don’t think this summer we are going to see a full summer schedule my guess would be probably 3 ship service but who really knows I just hope to get on a ferry in the near future!

It looks like the SOVI is online again tonight she is scheduled as the 9pm from Tsawwassen. Coastal Renaissance is scheduled to do the 7pm out of Swartz Bay so I guess after that they will switch and probably the Renaissance will go back to Departure Bay.

I wonder if you drive onboard are you allowed up on the passenger decks or would they block it off?? What if someone had to use the washrooms?? I wonder if the outside decks would be closed?? I heard somewhere that only certain passenger areas are open!

So which deck had the damage?? The photo shows the lower deck but the description says vehicles on the upper deck couldn’t disembark?? A bit confusing unless I am missing something?

An overnight run to Tsawwassen and back?? Was it really that busy? I thought it was only about 50% full but I think the 11pm sailing left a bit late.

It looks like the SOVI is out today as she’s still at Tsawwassen and looks like the Coastal Renaissance is on her way to Swartz Bay. I’m just curious seeing the Coastal Celebration is at Swartz Bay why they are not using her??? That would make more sense then moving the Renaissance all the way to Swartz Bay. Maybe a crewing issue??

It should just be commercial traffic only on all routes to the island! Ferries from Tsawwassen are almost full today! Really would be nice if people listened to health authorities as I’m sure it’s not all essential travel!

So with the Queen of Alberni doing Cargo sailings how are they going to enforce that?? I am sure the odd person would show up for a Queen of Alberni sailing. Same with screening passengers now how would they go about that? I guess before they enter the terminal at the toll booth and also before they enter the foot passenger building I would assume??

Not a big deal I’m just curious as to why the New West has been sitting in Berth 5 at Tsawwassen when she’s not being used?? Which just leaves Berth 3 available when the SOBC ties up for the afternoon in Berth 4. Maybe it’s because the Alberni is in Berth 2?

So it looks like the Inspiration will be the public boat taking passengers on route 30 on her normal schedule and the Queen of Alberni is doing Cargo only Monday to Friday sailings. It also looks like according to the schedule that the SOBC is doing morning shift and the SOVI is doing the afternoon shift on route 1. I also heard on the video BC Ferries posted that they are closing Long Harbor and the route 9 Tsawwassen to Gulf Island boat is gonna be running out of Swartz Bay. It should be interesting to see that schedule. So I wonder how that is gonna work??

how come they dident keep one boat for route 2 for the public then just have the commercial boat for route 30?? Also curious to why they dident use just one boat for route 1?? Looks with that schedule each Spirit is doing a shift!

Some people are just immature I know cause I work with 2 at my work and after seeing all the clueless people that are not social distancing these days it is really annoying. I mean I can see if you want to risk your health to do a ferry trip that is up to you but it's not just their health they are risking other peoples health too. I am so used to doing ferry trips almost every week to 2 weeks that it's hard for me not being able to do a ferry trip now. It is one the ways I relax to be out on the water but I can't do that now I mean I could but I won't because that would be stupid. Younger people need to take this more seriously or we are all screwed.

Has anyone checked out the new live webcam at Westview?? It’s pretty neat it’s live so you can see the ferries arriving and departing. It’s operated by the Powell River Peak. If you look that up you can access to the webcam.

Has anyone been following the Coronovirus situation with the Diamond Princess in Yokohama Japan?? I am wondering what Princess will do next when this Quarantine is over what is gonna happen with the ship I wonder?? I think they will need to pull that ship from service and really need to clean every single area on that ship really well. I am not sure I would want to cruise on that ship after an outbreak like is happening right now. It looks like the earliest cruise on this ship I can see is March. Also the Westerdam is sailing around with no where to go cause of this virus but she has no confirmed cases on board but they did stop in Hong Kong I think. It is crazy what is happening over there right now and cruise ships seem to be worst place for spreading illnesses like this. I am not sure I would want to be going on a cruise right now.
