Is the Super "C" going to look like Queen of Cowichan, Queen of Oak Bay, or Skeena Queen (as in Century Class)?

Could you imagine if the Super C-Class pulled what the Alberni did in 1979 hopefully the Flensburger way works

the c class can go thru active pass but it is not fuel efficent or at all any worth while for this to happen. i thought this has been discussed before about ship deployment. i see people who posted one thing about ship deployment a couple of months ago doing a 180 now and going with something else.

I heard from a deckhand on the queen of vancouver that the first one is replacing the saanich for another route, the second one is on the hsb-dep. bay and the third is not decided or it is a refief vessel.

I dont think they will use a super c as a extra. They should have all three in full service. If they only need one on the Departure Bay route then have 1 on route 2, and 2 on route 1. But it's probably better to have two on route 2.

I thought it was mentioned here that the C-Class (i.e. Queen of Surrey) were not allowed to operate in Active Pass, meaning the Surrey would be on Route 2 and two Super Cs would be on Route 1. That's odd, as I can clearly remember riding a C-Class ( think it was the Queen of Alberni) through the Active Pass when I was very little.

Late 1980's. I was born in '84, and I was probably around 3 or 4 years old when I rode it. Now that I think about it, it may have even been the Queen of Cowichan or Coquitlam. All I can remember is being in the C-Class cafeteria, and sitting at the front pretending to drive the ferry.

The C Class operate in Mode 2 through active pass, it's said to not be fuel efficient, but thats not really a huge issue, at all. The Captain of the Alberni made a stupid mistake, for which he took the fall, and then every-one blamed the ship. The C Class operated for like 5 years on Route 1, they seem to have done alright.

I swear that the surrey and the Oak Bay ran on Route 1 at one point, and that would have been AFTER the Alberni Incident.

yes actually they did. but they had to go into mode 2 a mile out of active pass and through active pass stay in mode 2. this made the trip longer then the 95 minute time that it takes in a v class.

Thats not true, the time part. Nor is the part about the ships not running in the Pass after the Alberni, not even vagyluy true as the Oak Bay and Surrey were just having their keels laid at that point, and they did about 5 years there.

The Ships and British Columbia and the old version of the "British Columbia" book they sold before they changed paint schemes for Expo.
