I still feel as if March should be the default month flagship for Queen of the North. April 2007 Coastal Renaissance would be fair in my mind, because it would give us plenty of time to get our own photos of it in service.

To chime in, I don't like the idea of having a single boat (the CR is the exception) as the only option, casting a wider net allows more participation and potentially better pictures.
That said, as an "abstract idea", what about scenes FROM a ferry? The ferry has to be visible (so railing, or a picture down the side of the boat), but the scenery is more influential than the boat?

I like that, scenes from a ferry. I find that is what the ferries are all about, the amazing scenery you get almost every time you take a trip.

We have had at least two months in the past year along those lines, and I'm sure it will happen again:)

Would a "Ministry of Highways" month be too limiting or exclusionary (i.e., make it too hard for people to participate)? I know the "pre-BCF" month was kind of tough for the younger members without resorting to postcards...

Hey, that's not bad - but if I'm not mistaken, didn't we have a Ministry for Highways month way back when...?
Anyways - My idea is to have a transit month, resorting to other modes of transportation for the transit geeks - I dunno - just a suggestion?

I really don't like buses, so I might be a little biased when I say this.
Isn't this a ferry forum, not "mass transit" or "bus forum"?
It would just make sense to me to keep it at least marine based photos.

Unless the entries were required to include both transit and ferries...

I'd vote against a general transit theme for the same reason myself.

Yes, I agree. We need to stick with a marine/ferries theme.
;)How about a month for submitting photos of Swartz Bay Terminal shot out the front window of a Victoria double decker transit bus as it approaches the terminal. ;D

Well, ya know, I thought it would be a good idea to give other forms of mass transportation a chance to breath... But OK, if my idea got shot down that fast, I guess it ain't popular

I wouldn't completely shoot down the idea of transit. If you kept it to Translinks Seabus and/or Albion Ferry, that would fall under the right requirements.
What about water taxis and the False Creek Ferries/Victoria Harbour Ferries? They could fall under the form as "transit", some people rely on those too I'd imagine.

Possibly, but again we're starting to possibly get a little too specific.

My thought is that it just doesn't seem quite right......... (Even if you substitute this with a Skytrain car or whatever picture you have on hand...)

Hey, that's not a bad idea. We should probably wait until cadmunkey is finished with his model of the Chilliwack first though.

For October 2008, how about the Queen of Tsawwassen?

For October 2008, how about the Queen of Tsawwassen? Sorry to disappoint, but Oct.2008 is my choice on theme, and I've got something special & different lined up......I'll announce it later today or tomorrow. But your idea has merit, very timely. (just that my pet-project idea was delayed once already by the hoopla over the Steel-Electric retirement, and so I want to get it in this time). I'm sure that the Q-Tsawwassen will get good consideration for Flagship status, sometime soon....just not next month.

So now that October has arrived, Might I ask who chooses the November 08 Category? Not alot can fit into this month. Here's my thinking. Queen of Tsawwassen: This would be the likely choice because. A) Now Retired B) This is the month she was launched in 49 years ago.
Coastal Celebration and/or Island Sky: November would be a bit early for either so December or January would be better.
Non BC Ferry: If it happened once (or twice) it can happen again. WSF or AMHS anyone?
Or we can go with something new and BCF related. I have some Ideas there. Idea 1) Terminals Idea 2) Shots (interior or exterior) from aboard a vessel. Idea 3) Queen of Richmond (Post an Edited Photo of the Sasquatch of Ferries)

November flagship is John H's bailiwick Is that a euphemism for Queen of Chilliwack...? Good one. (for the record, I did consult my dictionary, just to be sure, before I posted my "b" word.)

Terminal life! Likely some great shots are out there of the goings on at terminals.
