As a treat for all the ferry nuts on this Forum, I have created a YouTube sequential still video presentation of the NORTHERN EXPEDITION's southern BC arrival. Included are captures from Victoria, San Juan Island, and Active Pass. ENJOY!

And, in a few minutes, she'll pass under the ILS glide slopes from the runways of CYVR.

And, in a few minutes, she'll pass under the ILS glide slopes from the runways of CYVR. At which point she will switch her radio to VHF channel 12A and check in with Vancouver Traffic.
And she is now abeam of CYVR, continuing northbound at 19.4 knots.

But not as fast as the CR went when she entered English Bay for the first time. The CR got up to 24 knots. Whoa! You almost gave me heart failure, Siitech! All of a sudden I get this message in big letters in my face saying "The evaluation period for this product has expired". Luckily, a quick reload got me back in action.
The NE has now slowed to half speed in English Bay to receive her Vancouver Harbour pilot. Vancouver webcam viewers, get your [PrtSc] keys ready! And hopefully at least one forum member here has run out to the Lions Gate Bridge with his/her digital photo or video camera to capture the NE coming in.

Global had shots taken from the water in Victoria including the horn blowing. Sounded sweet. City only had live webcam shots from their harbour cam.

Now that the NE is past Victoria, a crewman should change the destination field on her AIS transponder to read "Departure Bay".

With the networks such as CanWest and CBC in the financial situation they are, I wonder if someone will have actually have gotten shots from a traffic helicopter. NorEx is paying her respects to the Sir Wilfred Laurier who just happens to be at WMG .

Got some great shots off of Brockton Point Lighthouse. The 'NorEx' looks as if she weathered the transit in great shape. Glad to see someone had the foresight to put up the signal flags for her cameo appearance in the great Port of Vancouver. I'll catch up to the 'NorEx' either in Departure Bay or in Prince Rupert at the end of the month when I go up to Hardy for the last round trip on the Queen of Prince Rupert.

Nice catwalk around Vancouver Harbour. Now, it's off to the end of the NE's delivery voyage at Departure Bay.

City TV actually cut to webcams a couple of times in their broadcast. They didn't prep the newscasters very well. The woman, obviously not a ferry geek, said "well its white, nice looking ship." I couldn't watch that pair very often that is for sure.

The crew that City TV sent out is typical of the 'non-boaty' types that usually cover maritime events and I agree it is very painful to listen to. This is when hopefully the pictures tell the story and not the dumb-dumbs sent to cover such stories. ..arrrgh

Meanwhile, we see on the ship tracker that the NORTHERN EXPEDITION has met the QUEEN OF OAK BAY. It is only fitting that we see the first of the FSG ferries precede the last into Departure Bay. The COASTAL RENAISSANCE will land first. Then, the NORTHERN EXPEDITION will land. Finally, we'll be seeing the folks who we say to "I delcare..." meeting the deliverers.

I've been tracking the Norex all day today, while at school. People have been noticing the siitech webpage on my desktop, and questioning what I'm doing. But we're not doing anything today anyways, so I'll be down at the shores of Departure Bay shortly, with both my video camera and still camera at hand. This is going to be good.
