I have a few pictures from the car deck and bridge if anyone wants to see them. I am new here so I am not sure if this is where you can post photos(topic is correct) or if pictures go somewhere else. If someone wants to show me the ropes I would be happy to post and link some of my "media" odds and ends from time to time.

The Ferry Photos section of the board is the best place to post photos.

Typically, the best way to post your photos is set yourself up a free account at a place like photobucket.com and you can link your pictures from the site. Let us know if you need any help!

According to the profile, the Sonia is 117 meters, and the QPR's length is 101 meters. However, the silhouette indicates otherwise. Looks like the Northern Adventure is a little stubby.

OMG! They did terrible! The kuper looks great, but this, this is SAD. She looks as long as the Quinitsa! Oh well, BC Ferries will never be perfect with their fleet pages!

The Kuper is bigger than it should be, too.

Sonia entered the drydock yesterday morning. At the time she entered drydock, there was no visible exterior work that had been done.

It's probably in the dry dock for modifications to the stern. Don't forget they have to get that square stern to fit a standard BCF berth. It should look rather awful when they're finished. As I once said, a tapered diving platform would do the job. A fly past in a week or so will reveal what the mod will actually look like.

Yes, but it actually looks good! And completely misrepresents the Kuper's size. I was unaware that BC Ferries had procured another century class until I saw that silhouette. Fenk, scaling

I while ago, I was actually experimenting with these silhouettes. I did the Super "C"s (from what i knew at the time), and in my mind, were fairly accurate. Here it is.

Hmm. I didn't know we got a new minor vessel, which looks like a smaller Northern Adventure.... Also, looks like they've already posted the silloette for the new Intermediate Class vessel. BC Ferries seems to have had given up on the proportion and scale when it comes to their vessels' profile sihouettes about a decade and a half ago; the first and most striking departure from keeping the silhouettes to scale, as far as I know, was after the lifting of the Queen of New Westminster... From having a profile similar to her sister the Queen of Nanaimo before 1991...
...To having this stubby looking profile
While the 'V' Class profiles after lifting kept their length to scale in earlier years

Cascade - when I was there it was a normal day for most folks.
What name is the vessel wearing? Sonia, or Northern Adventure?

I don't know everything that they are doing on the boat. But I do know guys who are working on that ship, including hubby.
No work was done on the ship between Xmas and New Years as Vic Ship was closed that week. There is about 2 months work there and they want the boat done in less time. Some guys are working normal shifts, while others are working 10 hrs, 6 days a week. Since BC Ferries is paying the bill, they do not want to pay for overtime. The guys are not too happy about that.
All the major steel work and painting will be done in Esquimalt , while the ship is in dry dock. Some parts are being made in the shops and will be installed, while the ship is in the dock.
The car ramp will be removed and a door will be made at the bow to let the cars on and off. A bumper will be put all around the outsides of the boat (for docking purposes) . Something will be done at the back , but don't know what. Bulkheads (walls) are being built in the galley, and passenger areas. When I hear of anything else I'll let you know.

This is the only source that I have heard to date saying that she is to be fitted with a bow door. I am waiting for a confirmation from someone on the inside.
