The Quinista will be going to refit some time this fall for upgrades, including new engines and right angles drives. I understand this refit will be about five months.
The "Burr" from what I hear will be about 38 cars once completed. Making it the most suitable relief vessel for Quinista. Other vessel in the fleet are either too small or too large.
During the fall and winter this traffic numbers for Quinista drop, thus not require extra trips like summer. There fore "Burr" will fit in pretty close.

Another update with the Burr. Sorry, no photos this time though.
The wall on the opposite side of the ship is now built up as well. It's identical to the wall that was built on the side facing the Second Narrows bridge, as seen in Grahams Pictures. This means the bridge will be built across the car decks, like the Quinsam, Quinitsa, and Skeena Queen. I might head down to Vancouver again today, so hopefully I'll be able to get some pics!!

It's going to have lots of character.
She's a bit unattractive now without any makeup (i.e. paint) but...
The small ships always have character.

Ok, so why do they have a wall on the opposite side now, which is identical to the wall that you see in Grahams pics? It's being built to have a bridge suspended across the car decks. I'll have pics of it posted up tomorrow, and you'll see what I mean.

The JAB is looking good. It was very boxy by the looks of the pictures from Utah.

I saw on the BC ferries web page that it was going to be called the Hull 259 That's the Hull number, used to refer to ships before they're commissioned (traditionally) or in service (as is the case here)

The hull 259 is what they are calling her until day ready for service or launch. The rumour has it the word "comox" will be in her name. She is scheduled for launch into the water on November 3rd. I have confirmed this date with one of the project managers.
News on the Tachek, she is delayed will going in the water at Vancouver Shipyard about 8 am of Oct. 23rd and sea trails set for that Friday. Should be in service on 28th at Hornby. A week behide schedule due poor planning by DPMI.

Thanks for the update, blackshadow.
I had to go into Burnaby, while I was working tonight. The JAB actually sort of looks like the Osprey 2000 now, with the type of bridge they put on it. It was dark, but the bridge was covered in white plastic, but looked somewhat circular.

Just to yet you know that the Queen of Cowichan has left Vancouver today (Thursday) and was at the Sandheads entering the Fraser River at 11:50am this morning. I would imagine she should be at Dease Dock now. Source: Victoria Taffic ch 11, 156.550 mhz

I figured out what routes they could use the JAB, Quinitsa, Tachek, Kaloke, Klista, Tenka, Quadra Queen II, and Tenka.
I think the Tachek should go in for the Kaloke on Denman and Hornby, Kaloke has it's refit, then JAB is done and goes to take over for the Quinitsa on Buckley Denman, Kaloke comes back on opperates on Chemanius, Theits, Kuper then takes over on Albion ferry for Translink before so they can have refit, then the Quinista comes back and returns to the Buckley Denman, JAB goes around to the other side of Denman and Takes over for the Tachek so it can go give refit to the Northen Island Princece on Texada, then Tenka on Quadra Cortes then take over for Quadra Queen II out of Port McNeill, then go to Swartz Bay and opperate as a third vessle for the summer, Klista returns to Chemanius and Klista opperates as a second vessle on Gabriola for the summer.

sorry Klista takes over on Albion and then has refit (typo why would the Kaloke need two refits in two months)
