Friday you say? I get out at 2:45pm... I have a camera... except for the fact that I live about 45 minutes away from the launching site.

There are several great viewing locations, of which I'm sure almost all are legal. Firstly, when the Skeena Queen was launched the yard was open to the public. Seeing as this ship doesn't have any political-attachment to it I'm not sure this will happen? Would be great if it did.
From the Second Narrows bridge you could get an exceptional view.
Also, there is a public access road east of the Marina Grill restraunt at the North Shore Marine Terminals area that gets you mroe or less directly across from the JAB, but the view for photos isn't so hot. If I make it down, I'll be on Second Narrows unless the yard is open.
Cheers

hmm, I am tempted to phone in sick to work on Friday if I am scheduled to work so I can make it over to see the JAB launch. Where can you view the launch from?? I'll talk to you more about it Chris, maybe we can meet up, and I have a feeling Graham will be there too. I have never seen a ferry launch before so this would be cool to see! Sonia in Victoria the end of the year. Hopefully they will have a specific date of her arrival. Would be cool to see! I might have to join you guys!

Here's the view from the Ironworkers Memorial Bridge: Nice pictures, gee, who's running that railroad anyhow? Lynn Creek is CN, but quite often there is more CP power around than CN. BTW the train coming in on the right is 671, a loaded CP potash train heading for Neptune Terminal. The train direrctly below is most likely a Lynn Creek-Thornton transfer taking CP grain and other CP traffic from North Van to Thornton yard in Surrey, both trains have CN crews.
