I think that some of the older vessels - if they have been looked after - seem and feel warmer. Not so much of the plastic and sole less about them.
BUT I have been on a number of older vessels and beleive you me - they are crap and should have never been built in the first place. I guess it is a matter of taste and the type of design you like - how she looks and sits in the water.

Is there any arguments or other ideas for this new suggestion for Mill bay to Patricia Bay?

Theres nothing like getting frustrated on a car deck, and banging your head against steel. aluminum and plastic just dont work.

Harry or Quinsam ?
The other "options" for the Mill Bay - Brentwood Bay route ie route 12 - was an idea to close the Brentwood Bay terminal - dock and have Pat Bay as the new Terminal. This was 1 of 8 possible options that were put forward in August 2000 by BCFS - and none of them were acted on - why - I don't know.
Jack Knox in the Times Colonist wrote in 18th March 2004 - that the Brentwood - Mill Bay route was safe for the 10 years - but that has now all changed.
Nothing that BCF has done in the past makes any sense at all -

Harry - go back and read some of the other posts - and threads - as this subject has been talked about at lot - more than most subjects - routes.
If you want - send me your email address and I will send back (in .pdf format) the BCFS report - done in August 2000 on the Brentwood Bay - Mill Bay - Route 12. You can then see what BCFS came up with - and why who ever did the report - it was a total white wash.
In trying not to repeat myself to much - but since the mid-80's the management of BCFS - has been adding massive amounts of costs to the operating P&L for this route to make it show yearly losses - which then gives them reasons to drop the route from the schedule / service.
The lady who leads the local presure group has a direct line into BCFS and can get the same - detail figures. So far to date - she has been able to defeat all that has been thrown at her and the local's. She has been to with stand the NDP & BCFS Senior management. I would not like to bet against her - even now - with the different policital structure in place with regards to BCFS & routes.

right the capilano had to come to the surrey's rescue and tow her to horseshoe bay and it was a fiasco that day because they had to use the Oak Bay on two runs and then the Capilano took over and it was just a mess.

Route 3 was such a mess for a month while the Queen of Esquimalt ran the route. Sailing waits were frequent for route 3.
