The two Spirit-class ferries on their 9:00pm sailings, seen in Active Pass:
I am at the cemetery on Galiano Island, so this can be called "Spirits seen at night." - July 12, 2016
The video quality is ok at times, and "ok-minus" for other times. Sorry about the focus issues when the camera was trying to figure out the flashing and moving light sources, in the darkness. But there is enough "ok" to make this post-worthy, me thinks. I like the view of lit-up large ships at night.

But there is enough "ok" to make this post-worthy, me thinks. I like the view of lit-up large ships at night. Try experimenting with turning auto focus 'off', and just setting the focus manually at infinity. That would stop the camera from 'hunting' for a sharp focus. Whether this would work okay during the parts where you are zoomed in, I am not so sure. The video you have posted here is a pleasure to watch, not withstanding the brief parts where the camera was 'hunting'.

Here is a transit of Active Pass by the Spirit Sisters, shown in both real time (with real sound) and in a 10x sped-up version.
I like both effects.

Spirit of Vancouver Island on a Sunset cruise through Active Pass Very warm and comfy looking picture. I've probably mentioned this 'blemish' before but, it's too bad the Spooks have that upper car deck protruding 'lip' sticking out as it just doesn't fit the overall ships' profile..

I'd love to have a giant hacksaw and cut that 'lip' off her bow. Otherwise the 'Spooks' are fine looking vessels. Speaking of which, where are we at with the 'MLU' program for the 'SOVI' and her sister?

Spirit of Vancouver Island driving into its berth at Swartz Bay, back on September 18th, 2016. Ended up being the very last car to make it onto the upper deck of the 7pm sailing.

BC ferries Current Conditions The SoVI reverts to #1 out of Swartz Bay as of tomorrow. On next Wednesday her sister is back as #1 from Tsawwassen. The school spring break period is beginning so traffic should be picking up.

Whoa the platform deck lowered. That's the making of ferry legend right there. Thanks for the unique pictures.

The last picture shows a very interesting, fissure-like diagonal slice across the starboard side of the hull. It appears workers are putting some kind of gunk into that 'cut'. I've never seen a hull design or construction looking like that or am I missing something here?
