Is the Spirit of Vancouver Island taking the two hour way on Route 1 and why? Is she only sailing with three engines?

Hi a_person,
Please consider putting each of the [ img ] tags on a seperate line from all other text. This prevents side scrolling for frugal people like myself who don't have 24" monitors. Thanks!

With the SOVI demoted to number two boat out of Swartz Bay for the winter, here's a look at her being fired up for number two boat service on a Sunday. The Coastal Celebration is preparing to Depart for the 11:00am sailing on the right, while the SOVI just started pushing into the dock. The tie up is different for the SOVI in Berth 3, so it requires more time for the Deck Dep't to untie her. They seem to be all settled into Berth 1 for loading by 11:30 and then departing at 12 Noon.

The SoVI plugged up at SWB. I don't like the lack of a handrail on the aft mooring flats abaft of the buffet there. An SOS by a crew member Looking a little sooty up top.

SoVI at Swartz Bay's berth-3. - this is when she is operating as #2 ship from Swartz, and has not yet started her service day. So berth-3 is just her overnight sleeping spot. Mayne Queen is in berth-5.

:)the compact device on the grounds of the Georgina lite station, I'am wondering if it's part of the streamlining of westcoast marine services by the Harperites, all cutting our needless spending in order that the non-stop addvertizing campagn, may continue! ???mrdot.

It has been there since well before Haper's time. I believe that it is some sort of radio beacon or repeater.

Spirit of Vancouver Island & Queen of Cumberland in Active Pass - 12 May 2003. The SoVI is heading north to the mainland terminal at Tsawwassen. The Cumberland is going the other way with the next stop likely at Mayne Island. This was during the livery change year of 2003 when the proud dogwood was replaced by slugs. Both ferries in this view have lost their dogwood funnels. photo © WCK-JST by Wett Coast, on Flickr[/size]
