Spirit of Vancouver Island fresh from refit, and serving as the #1 Swartz Bay based vessel on February 10, 2013 for the Family Day long weekend. Berth 1 is currently undergoing a major refurbishment, therefore she needs to use Berth 2 in the meantime. On Tuesday, the Celebration/Sovi will switch places again I believe, and the Sovi will go back to tie up in Berth 3 to allow for both Coastals to dock in Berth 2  Spirit of Vancouver Island by Deck-dog SSI, on Flickr |

I was on the SOVI`s 12pm departure from Swartz Bay. We boarded via the car deck as it was not a very busy sailing.

:)what a wonderful day trip my brother and I had on the Spirit, with Captn. Alex and his crew, then followed by a wheelhouse visit with the crew of Mayne Queen and return home to Tsawwassen, on the Nanaimo, a fantastic photo op, as well! mrdot.  |

This photo was sent to me by Alex Loy, aka 'BCF_Capt', Master, Spirit of Vancouver Island. He has given me permission to post this photo here and in my Flickr account. This view is from the top of the funnel, just beside the aft range light. This would be equivalent to deck 9 or 10? This was taken on the SoVI's first northbound crossing of the day. The SoBC would appear momentarily, coming around Mary Anne Point. Alex closed his own account with Flickr, being one of many members very upset by their recent 'improvements'. :)mrdot, wife and daughter were aboard the 9am sailing the following day as we did a day trip over to our moms, and met with Capt. Alex in the Pacific buffet! :)mrdot.
