The Raven landed at Ogden Point, tied-up, and we had photographers on the ground to meet her.
Because of this, I think that arrival arrival is a good start to this here permanent Raven thread.

Here's a vague and I'm assuming "irrelevant to this week's situation" tweet from BC Ferries regarding Salish Raven. Raven to the Rescue? HERE------------ I'm assuming this is a poorly worded tweet, that speaks to possible future (after Labour Day) availability.

Where can we expect the Raven to live? Or will it float around the fleet filling in for other boats as it isn't retiring a ferry like Eagle and Orca?

Where can we expect the Raven to live? Or will it float around the fleet filling in for other boats as it isn't retiring a ferry like Eagle and Orca? Based off what we know, the Salish Raven will only have a permanent home in Summer at Tsawwassen's berth 1. During the off-season, she could call a number of terminals home. She'll probably spend less time at Tsawwassen because the major vessels are often moored at Berth 1/2 when they aren't in service or coming to/from refit. Fulford Harbour is one option if the Bowen Queen isn't there, even then though, she might be too big to fit in the layup berth. There's also berth 1 at Departure Bay, but I only see her going there when she repositions to/from Route 17 because one of the 'C's or Coastals are often occupying that berth. The last option is Saltery Bay's berth 1, where I see her spending a decent amount of downtime between Route 7 and 17 stints. I suppose Deas is also an option too, but she'll only be there during refit. We'll see how many of these become reality soon enough.

BCF has needed a boat like that for some time.

Raven is now wrapped. See photo on the news release link HEREI like the simplicity of this design. The trickster will be a tricky ship to spot, LOL.

I think they're each unique in their own sense, but the minimalist, simple approach to the lines appeals to me, personally. I've enjoyed this update to BCF's on-board brand identity. And, the latest renderings we've seen of the new minor-44 class of vessel indicates a livery refresh on the way. Fingers crossed for more tasty treats!

Probably every one of the long time WCFF members- including me- have a soft spot for the 'Queen' designations and the pastel blue, but compared to the nonsensical names like Island Sky or the Coastals... these three vessels add something to our coast with their identities.

Salish Raven departed Deas this morning at approximately 0530. She sailed up to Horseshoe Bay and is now currently off the northern entrance of Active Pass en route to Swartz Bay.

Salish Raven is currently sailing between Portland and Moresby Islands en route for Swartz Bay - her artwork looks very nice. A soft sailing on the SGI-SWB route this afternoon is in the books perhaps?

Apperently the Raven is going to be tied up in berth 4 here at Swartz Bay for a few days. It got here about an hour go and offloaded a few cars, but I believe they were all employee vehicles (ie. not a soft sailing). I'm not sure why it's here but I'll post a couple pictures when I get home from work.

What's it there for? Seems odd to have an out of service ferry taking up a berth at a busy terminal in the peak of summer - so there's got to be something going on.

A couple pictures of the Raven pulling into berth 4. I still don't know why she is there but I do know we are expecting to have it there for at least a couple of days. I'll do some more digging today and see if I can find someone who knows why she is at Swartz Bay. Salish Raven by Samtomkinss, on Flickr Salish Raven by Samtomkinss, on Flickr

The Raven has the best wrap in my opinion, it isn't huge (By that I mean crowded) and has beautiful accents of blue

Today they did a "test run" of bunkering LNG, and I'm told tomorrow they will be doing a real LNG bunkering and then she should be leaving here on Friday morning. I don't know why the LNG bunkering had to be done here vs doing it in Tsawwassen. My only thought is that maybe they also wanted an opportunity to be here to load up a bunch of stores stuff for the cafeteria and gift shop and figured out a way to do both.

Does this mean the Salish Raven is revenue service ready and could provide a bail out of the Queen of Nanaimo's technical issues persist?

Today's useless piece of information. The BC Ferries logo on the side of the Raven is decal. I'd incorrectly assumed that only the artwork proper was decals. However I'm currently berthed next to the Raven and you can make out the "original" BC Ferries wordmark which is actually substantially longer than the decal version.
