That would be a sight to see! We could chop the bridge off the Esquimalt and stick it on the New West.

I have tried to vision what the Spirit class ships would look like if they were double ended. But I would not want to change the character of the older "V" or 'B" class ships.

That is why we have the Coastals for double ended Spirits. Even seeing a PS of a double ended Spirit to me was mind boggling in terms of aesthetic appeal.

I think it looks pretty good, better then a single ended Spirit.

Overall it looks a little sleeker but I miss the winged funnel.

Thumbs up for the effort put into the photoshop job of the double ended Spirit!
Thumbs down for the ugly looking beast of a double headed Spook!

Why would you want to turn single enders into double enders? Efficiency maybe? Certainly not to improve a ship's appearance!

Great job on that! It looks quite real!
But the name almost looks like it says "Spirit of Northern British Columbia"

I'd personally would love to see one of those. Maybe the funnel should be re-done though. If it was that length though it would probably hold at least 700 cars. I remember a previous edit job just like this, except it was a mirrored image so one side was backwards and on the funnel, the mating slugs looked like the Pringles Guy's Mustache.

Yes she is the Spirit of Northern British Columbia. I figured she could be built in 2076 for route 17 when everything north of Comox is sold to Alberta and the green party is in power. Of course we all drive electric cars and live in Wall-Mart apartment buildings.
I don't think she is to bad. I kinda like the funnel. Maybe she needs 2 like the Susie Q. I love how long she is. and I figure she would have about 160% the capacity of the current spirits.
Cheers,

The Quadra Queen II just pulled out of Deas a few mins ago. Assuming she'll stop at one of the major terminals along the way up to Port McNeil?

Looks like the QQ II is heading back down to Victoria right now. I didn't see where she spent the night last night, whether it was at Tsawwassen or back in at Deas after a little trial yesterday afternoon.

Cad: what dimensions do you envision for your SoNBC?? I am curious, although I suppose I could work out out from some measuring of your pic ...

I saw Kuper today as I was going over the Second Narrows Bridge. She was in the dock on the Indian Arm side of the bridge. Wonder what she was doing there?

What refit work is The Queen of Alberni having done, did she not have her mid life upgrades done last year?

That's just it. That happened last year. All of the Major ships have a refit every year. That's why they call it Annual Maintenance.

Yeah it just like owning a car. You have to change the oil, rotate the tires and check your anti-freeze every once in a while, even if the car is brand new or just got a MLU.
Cheers,

Cad: what dimensions do you envision for your SoNBC?? I am curious, although I suppose I could work out out from some measuring of your pic ... I was given a nice booklet on the then new MV SIPRIT OF BRITISH COLUMBIA on her Open Ship I attended at Ogden Point. I estimate that the side windows are at 10 foot increments. Count 17 windows from the forward end and you'll find amidships (close to). Add 9 windows at each end to the middle. The middle is estimated to be between 6 and 8 feet (I'm guessing 8 feet). 560 / 2 = 280 280 090 008 090 280 = 748 feet overall estimated length. I like the stack. Keep this as is with all the catering amidships and the viewing at the ends.

748 feet overall estimated length. That would be 228 m, which raises the question: Could a ship that long fit through Active Pass?
