Only in an emergency (like a fire) have they replaced the Queen of Surrey with a V-Class ship. They run too slow for us up here. Even the Queen of Surrey has trouble keeping to schedule sometimes. It's just too busy. Usually its the Coquitlam, although once we had the Alberni. That was fun! One of our Captains said it was like driving a sportscar as opposed to a station wagon! I hope they can find another C-Class when she has to go in for refit this spring.

My guess it should be a C Class. Either the Oaky or most likely the Coq

It looks like the Queen of Coquitlam will be on the Langdale run as of Feb 15th as she is being pulled from the Duke Point run and looks like she will be replacing the Queen of Surrey. The Esquimalt will be replacing the Coquitlam on route 30!

I guess the Coq is the main replacement once again for route 3. Now that the 4 main C Class have completed their MLU

Will I be glad when the Super-C's come! As much as I love the V's, we need new ships to stay on time. I guess it's because I commute. If I only took an occasional sailing for fun, I probably wouldn't mind and I could enjoy the older gals.
Do the other runs see as much flack about keeping to schedule? Up here on Route 3, it's all we think about.

I'm pretty sure all the major routes do. I always find Route 3 to be faster then it says it is. But On Route 7 half the time the ferry is late.

It's only temporary the Surrey will be out. Ships have to go for refit. If there was a V on the Langdale run I would be happy. Just cause I like the older ships. How about the Alberni on the Langdale run?? You say a C class but the Alberni is also a C class. But I guess the people would be whining it's too small passenger area. You cant please anyone these days. I am sure route 30 will be thrilled to have the Esquimalt when have to move the Coquitlam to Langale!

Why don't they just send the Esquimalt strait to Langdale like they did last year for the Coquitlam's refit?

It might be a good thing if the Esquimalt does Route 30 since there's more overhight space then on the Coquitlam.

If the Esquimalt could do Route 3 in 40 minutes I don't think anybody would say anything. Lots of us loved the sheltered outside decks on the Esquimalt! She has to parallel park when she docks in Langdale and she has to back out and turn around when she leaves Horseshoe Bay. This extra ten or 15 minutes each trip adds up and by the end of the day when you want to go home, you can get crabby waiting in Horseshoe Bay. But whichever ship they give us, I'm sure we'll survive.

The Queen of Vancouver is now at the Esquimalt Drydock. In the past few months we have had all three V's visit the drydock!

That's good that all 3 V's have been getting a good cleanup on the paint, above and below the waterline.
Does anyone know where the Quinitsa is currently having her refit dont at?

The ferry in the dry dock was in there for an emergency docking. She was losing time when doing her route. ( Hubby said it was a result of a mermaid being caught in her prop.) lol Anyway she was to leave the dock today, but it was too windy to move her. The Huron will be going in the dock next.

So where is the Vancouver now?? Cause she is listed on the RBI for Tuesday on route 30. Has she left the drydock yet??? I would think she would of had to have left by now. Suppose to be windy tommorrow too I think so she might not get to run anyways, lol! Damn it though it pisses me off cause I could of been off Tuesday now I have to work, as I would of taken a trip on route 30 tommorrow on the Vancouver. I'll have to see what the weather is like.

When the wind calmed down, the ferry left and today the Huron is in the dock. The Huron is going to be fixed up, so that they can sink it somewhere.

To make sure there's nothing aboard that will make it a danger to the environment. Plus they will probably be taking things like doors, windows, and some walls down to make it Diver friendly. They did the same with the HMCS Cape Breton, and they cut off part of the stern, where it was placed at one of the buildings at the Vancouver Drydock. People who go out to the Lonsdale area frequently will know what I'm talking about. They also removed a large smokestack off of the ship, because it would end up sticking out of the water once it was sunk in the shallow water, off of Snake Island, in Nanaimo.

It might be a good thing if the Esquimalt does Route 30 since there's more overhight space then on the Coquitlam. The overheight space is ambiguous. While the Esquimalt has no gallery decks and therefore can fit more trucks, the Coquitlam has a higher clearance, 4.57m as opposed 4.12m. The 35cm difference is substantial.

I hope they can find another C-Class when she has to go in for refit this spring. The Alberni was on route 3 in the spring of 2005. It sure made for faster loading and unloading. Commercial vehicles, RVs, and vehicles pulling trailers sure enjoyed it because of less waits. However, on Friday and Sunday afternoons regular cars did not like it because it obviously carried less cars.

Just an update currently as of 10:30am Friday the Queen of Capilano in out in the Jaun De Fuca strait just off the Esquimalt Lagoon doing some things. I saw her this morning out there. They must be doing sea trials or testing something. And always when I dont have my camera with me!

Currently Sat morning 9:20am the Capilano just passed my house as I could see her again this morning out in the Juan De Fuca strait. She is out pretty far from Victoria heading out towards Race Rocks.

Yes, the Cap has been doing sea trials for the last few days. You may also have noticed the Coast Guard ship Sir Wilfrid Laurier out doing the same.
