Why would the Queen of Capilano go to Earls Cove-Saltery Bay? Why would the Skeena Queen go to Horseshoe Bay-Bowen Island? Why would the Tachek take over the Powell River-Texada Island route? Why would the Quinitsa do Tsawwassen - Southern Gulf Islands in the winter? Why would the Klitsa and Mayne Queen run on the Swartz Bay to Fulford Route? Why do you have the Northern Expedition, Northern Discovery, and the New I Class vessel listed, when the title specifically says "When the Super C's arrive"?
I've never heard of the following vessels, until now: -Costal Renninance -Costal Insperation -Costal Cellabration -Northern Island Princess -Klista -Tenka

A lot of effort put into that original post, just for the sake of idle speculation.
I think it's not too productive to get that detailed in speculation. I did find it interesting to think through the major route ramifications of the ship-shuffle....but on a class-basis, not on an individual ship basis.
And the minor-vessel shuffle is just way too full of variables.
ps: I think that Northern Expedition should initially run on DepartureBay-HorseshoeBay route for 2 years, then sit idle at Swartz and Deas for 4 years, and then be refitted for northern service.

Why have a new vessel sit idle for four years? Are you talking about the Northern Adventure flugel?

For fun, I went through the original post, and counted 18 words with alternate spellings.
No offense intended to the poster......my bringing this up is just a result of my boredom......as proof-reading is a bit of a compulsive obsession for me (yeah, I'm a sick puppy, you should see how I like to mark up the newspaper).
It was like one of those brain-teaser puzzles, but ferry-themed. Some of them were tricky to spot, like Allford Bay.
For the original poster, this post obviously took some thought & effort, and provided some fun for him/her in doing this. Yes, I agree that thinking through the alternative possibilities of ships/routes is fun, and a good diversion. It doesn't make for the greatest discussion, but it is a fun solo project.

sorry about the bad spelling. The reason I put the Queen of Capilano on Earles Cove Saltery Bay is because then the new I class vessel will then be able to have its refit and still give the Queen of Burnaby and Queen of Nanaimo their refit so the Queen of Capilano would end up on that route most of the winter anyway. Skeena Queen on Bowen Island route because I remember a few years ago I read a news bulleten about wanting a larger vessle on the Bowen Island route so that is where the Skeena Queen comes in. Tachek on Texada route because the people on Texada want a larger vessle so then the Tachek gives them more service in the summer. The Quinitsa on Tsawwassen to Gulf Island route in the winter because that will help the Queen of the Nanaimo on Friday and Saturday nights. The Mayne Queen on the Fulford Harbour route because there is nothing else left and the Klista to help out the Mayne Queen in the summer to avoid overloads and I have the Northern Expedition, Northern Discovery, and the New I Class vessel listed because they will all be in service by the time the Coastal Celebration arrives.

It will be interesting to see what BCFS's come up with for a long term plan for winter service on the North Coast. The NA & NE are both too big to get in and out of mid coast ports such as Klemtu & Shearwater. I expect them to continue to use the QPR in winter till at least 2008-2009 winter. Beyond that the ND will become the winter boat as I expect that it will be designed to fit into all the little places. If they use the bigger boats they will have to have a Nimpkish around to provide a feeder service year-round. Also, they should look at having two boats providing winter service due to the constant weather delays that plague the current one boat service.

The Quinitsa on Tsawwassen to Gulf Island route in the winter because that will help the Queen of the Nanaimo on Friday and Saturday nights. . That idea for Quinitsa might be impossible, re Transport Canada certification for strait-crossing in wintertime. But it is kind of fun to dream of the possibilities.........

Good Idea.
Two vessels on the Texada Island-Powell River route in the summer could work fine for an year or two untill the second and third I class vessels enter service. Then the Powell River Queen can take over in the summer months (and remain there till the late fall to cover hunting season) with the North Island Princess doing the run during the winter.
The NIP is due to be replaced with a new vessel in either 2014 - 2015 that's likely to carry the same (or slightly more) vehicles then the PRQ.
P.S. Please name the new Texada vessel the: “MV Jennifer Tilly.”

Actually, the NIP does not need an additional vessel. Supply still meets demand currently so why expand when it is not necessary?

Now comes the debate: do we name it after Jen or Meg...Jen has more movies, but Meg has an Oscar, and apparently she lives in BC. Also, maybe we should petition for a Blubber Bay-Little River ferry called the PAM. ;D

Your Vessel, or I should say vessle placement is quite out of line. So Yes and No for your choices. Actually, the NIP does not need an additional vessel. Supply still meets demand currently so why expand when it is not necessary? Agree with this completely. The only time she isn't enough for the route is Sandcastle Weekend.

As far as the MV Pam goes I will avoid the obvious concerning floatation devices. I know there is reference somewhere to the C's not being as suited to active pass. I know they were used at one point in the past but not recently. Anyone know where that reference is or can someone post the reason please.

Hmm... I think that BC Ferries could use a V class on Tsawwassen-Duke Point in the summer (if the Queen of Saanich stuck around for a couple more years, perhaps).
Other than that, looks OK, except for some difficulties in the Northern department: -The Nimpkish should be left alone, and the Northern Discovery year-round.

It Is Possible, just there's the fact of their age. BC Ferries really needs to consider building another ferry for that route someday. And Eventually they might even want to try out a 24 Hour Service they've been thinking of using the V Class.

Here's the thing, lots of these similar posts seem to have the idea what when BC Ferries takes delivery of vessels of a certain class, the whole fleet needs to be reshuffled. This simply isn't the case.
The Super Cs will replace the Vs, which will require some Cs to move too. The I will replace the Tsa. That's all that will change in the short term. Perhaps some summer/winter assignments that the Tsa held but things like that don't lead to additional service on other routes.
The addition of the Kuper, at this point, is simply to give BC Ferries a spare, something that's been lacking for several years.

Remember, it's not cost-effective to run the original C-class vessels through Active Pass.

Remember, it's not cost-effective to run the original C-class vessels through Active Pass. Ugh.... search old posts and just read the debates. You're sort of right in principle that using more fuel rather than less fuel isn't cost effective but as a function of current fuel usage vs. what would change it's pretty much irrelevant. Anything is better than a V. .... plus the term "cost effective" is quite out of place there.

I found the discussion of the C's in Active Pass under the Super C's thread. It was before I joined the forum but must have read it at some point. No need to go back over the details again.

" Eventually they might even want to try out a 24 Hour Service they've been thinking of using the V Class. "
Aha, an interesting idea. Would Route 30 (Tsa-Duke Point) be the best candidate for all-night service? Maybe this has been discussed here before -- it does seem a good idea.
Duke Point is a good mid-island location, and its industrial nature makes it less disruptive to residents than any other terminal for late-night activity.
Aside from passenger traffic, the valuable live shellfish industry on the Island could certainly use 24-hour service to the mainland - especially to YVR via Tsawwassen.

Haven't they tried 24 hrs service before and found it very problematic? That said the comment was "they were thinking of using the Vs for that" which would imply to me that there would be a second tier (team night time) fleet running.
There would have to be a lot of new revenue to make that fly... plus the Vs seriously need to be retired!
