Yeah we can take the 3:15pm from Comox to Powell River. Check into a hotel or camp site. Me I would rather have a room at one of the local hotels then from there meet the PR guys then you could board the NIP at 6:55pm do a roundtrip and back to Texada and hang out in PR that night then catch either the 11:45 or 2:05 sailings from Saltery Bay and then Langdale and then we are back in Vancouver Sunday afternoon. If people are willing to stay in a hotel or camp that would be a cool idea!

Yeah, that would make an interesting trip. This will be our largest trip on record now, if it all goes through.

Well I say lets do it. Who ever wants to come can. So far me you graham Flugel and Scott definately will go. I am looking at the Powell River Town Centre Hotel to see what the prices are. It is at least over $100.00 for that hotel. Maybe the PR guys know of good cheap hotels??

Owch! $100.00 for a night, is a bit tight. I can afford it, but wow, I think Powell River can do a bit better than that. I don't need a big executive suite, but I don't want to be staying in some sort of slum, you know what I mean? I'm almost leaning towards the campout idea....I heard there was a good campground near Saltery Bay, which would be perfect for our needs? I have two tents......

If we want to camp somewhere near Powell River, there are two provincial parks nearby. Inland Lake, along Powell Lake, 10 km to the north of Powell River; and Saltery Bay, along Jervis Inlet, 27 km southeast of Powell River and only one kilometer from the ferry terminal. Here is the address to the regional map. Click on either location to get a briefing of each park. www.env.gov.bc.ca/bcparks/explore/regional_maps/powellriver.html

There are also two private campgrounds nearby as well. Kent's Beach, also on Jervis Inlet, costs $15.89 for two people per night. Willington Beach, closer into Powell River, is $20 for two people per night. Both provincial parks are something like $14.... But of course, like mentioned earlier, there are always the expensive hotels...as well as the bargain Side of the Road.

Well there is that cheap motel in Powell River that is under$60.00 for a room that overlooks the ferry terminal so you get to see the ferries coming and going. If you guys are interested in watching the ferries coming and going. lol I wont pay over $100.00 for a hotel in Powell River but 60 isent too bad. Depending if it's a good motel or not.

re the Option#4.....and the choice of sailing from Saltery Bay on Sunday morning:
- we should probably do the 11:45 am....and maybe even the 9:30 am.........for the sake of avoiding the busy Sunday afternoon-evening traffic at Langdale terminal and at HorseShoeBay terminal. Otherwise, I'm looking at a long wait at HSB on Sunday evening to hopefully catch the last ferry home to Dep.Bay?
Just a suggestion.
I'm ok for hotel/motel at PR. "The Inn at Westview" is approx $70 I think, and is older, but right next to the mall.
If I take my car, I'm ok taking a passenger or 2.....but if my passenger(s) were under-19-years-of-age, I'd prefer to have parrental-guardian permission: A late-30's guy driving around with an underage teenager who he's barely met just wouldn't look good. (I'm just being careful here).
the trip idea sounds great !

Either way, I'll be driving. There's no way the Greyhound could get me to Horseshoe Bay in time. If I have someone 25+, with a valid class 5 drivers license, I could fill my car up, with bringing another 5 people, but 3 people is alot more comfortable. Or if I take my parents SUV (if needed), then there's another 7 that could come. Otherwise, I'm limited to just taking 1 other person in my car.
Who else is interested in attending? Come on, we need more people!
PS: If we got a group campsite, we need a minimum of 15 people, at the Saltery Bay park.....otherwise there will be 1 or 2 tents to a site....But camping would be weather depending, because it just wouldn't be fun in the rain of course....

I will be driving too. We have alot of people who want to drive this trip. I am driving cause I want to spend some time in Vancouver before heading back. Whether I have any passengers or not is ok with me. I dont know how that circle pac would work. Do we each get out own?? Cause I will be using my last trip to go back to the island so if I take someone with me from the mainland I dont know how that would work. But who knows I might even stay a night in Van too. Personally I like the motel idea if anyone else wants to do the motel with me, let me know, and we can do that and the guys who wanna camp can camp.

I think me and Flugel are deciding to stay at that motel that overlooks the ferry terminal. It's only a half block to the ferry too so if we go to Texada on the NIP we can just leave are cars there and walk down.
re: the 11:45am sailing from Saltery Bay as Flugel suggested we could do that sailing which would arrive at Earls Cove at 12:35pm then a 90 min drive to Langdale arriving before 2pm which would be in time for the 3:05pm Queen of Surrey sailing. That would work. Unless you wanted to time it so we could get on the Esquimalt from Langdale??

Since I've never been to these places I can't tell you what I think of them but I think your Best Bets are the Motel and Willingdon Beach if you Take the NIP to Texada. Going to sound like a great trip

Uh hate to fly the red flag but it says nothing about vise versa whatsoever. If any of you can confirm it can go vise versa , let me know before next week.

That you can do HSB-DPB, Comox-PR Saltery Bay-EC Langdale-HSB, I should say I am flying a yellow flag.

I have done it twice once in each direction so you can do it!

It doesn't matter which direction you go, just as long as you go in a full circle, on any of the mentioned routes that circlepac is good for. I made those itineraries for a reason you know.

Buy two campsites, it should be cheaper and better for your use than a group site.

Im slightly confused with dates - can someone provide me with a guiding light
I have a very tight Augh schedule but I may buy a SailPass and do a day or two with the group. I can take the burden off another car for a period, then.

Yeah it will be August 26 and 27 unless you everyone just wants to do a day trip of it. But if we stay overnight in Powell River me Scott and Flugel will probably be staying at the motel that overlooks the ferries rather than camping.

ok come on guys, lets get cracking here. There is 15 days till this planned trip. This should be the plan for the Satruday.
9:45am-Mainlanders meet up at Horseshoe Bay 10:40am-Leave Horseshoe Bay on the Queen of Oak Bay 12:20pm-Arrive at Departure Bay, meet up with Islanders 2:15pm-Arrive at Little River 3:15pm-Queen of Burnaby departs Little River 4:35pm-Arrive in Powell River
We have two sailing options if we are gonna meet up with the Powell River guys and do a roundtrip to Texada that same day. We can hang around the ferry then meet the guys and catch the 5:40 or 6:55pm sailings to Texada Island. Which sailing would you guys rather do the 5:40 or 6:55??? We would be arriving in Powell River on the Burnaby about 4:30pm so that is just over an hour if we took the 5:40 to Texada. Probably be enough time to check in the people who are staying at the motel and then do a roundtrip. I think people need to decide what they are doing, motel or camping cause we should be booking in advance.
